Ms Dimitre does her presentation at this- one of three unique museums in Northern Pacific County, as a mature Mrs. Roosevelt surrounded by carriages; a few with realistic looking horses which would have been familiar during the First Lady’s childhood.

Newport, Oregon Will be NOAA`s New Marine Operations Center in the Pacific

Verger Praises Selection of Oregon coast harbor town.

(COOS BAY, Ore.) - Vessel in the Bay at Newport, Oregon Senator Joanne Verger (D-District 5), representing the Oregon coast from Lincoln City to Coos Bay, praised the selection today of the Port of Newport as the newest home of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association’s Marine Operations Center in the Pacific.

“This is monumental news for our coast and for our state,” said Verger.

New Poll Shows Most Oregonians Back Legislature`s Tax Measures

Poll results indicate tht a significant majority of likely voters supported the permanent tax increases on big corporations and the richest Oregonians.

(SILVERTON, Ore. OCCP) - Oregon State Capitol By more than a two-to-one margin Oregonians favor the legislature's recently enacted tax increases on corporations and the wealthy, according to a new poll released today by the Oregon Center for Public Policy.

The results spell bad news for opponents of the tax measures, who have begun collecting signatures to repeal them at the ballot box.

College in Oregon for Iraqi Refugees (AUDIO)

Their F1 visas means the students must return to Iraq when they finish their education.

(EUGENE, Ore. ONS) - Iraqi students When the fall semester begins at the University of Oregon, students may be learning about the war in Iraq from young adults who have lived through it.

Some Iraqi refugees will be attending college in Eugene and at schools in more than a dozen other states, as part of the Iraqi Student Project.

The report, Two Decades of JDAI: From Demonstration Project to National Standard, documents the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative’s (JDAI) progress both in reforming juvenile detention practices nationwide and also in contributing to the larger movement for more comprehensive reforms in juvenile justice.

Journalists Pardoned by North Korea

A special pardon is issued to two detained U.S. journalists after former U.S. President Bill Clinton meets with North Korea's leader. Will Clinton's visit open other windows for talks?

(WASHINTON D.C. RFA) - former U.S. President Bill Clinton (R) receiving a bouquet of flowers from a North Korean girl upon his arrival at Pyongyang Radio Free Asia reports that North Korea has issued a "special pardon" to two detained U.S. journalists following a visit by former U.S. President Bill Clinton to Pyongyang, according to North Korean media reports.

Laura Ling and Euna Lee were sentenced to 12 years' hard labor by a Pyongyang court in June. The pair admitted violating North Korean law in an attempt to shoot television footage relating to North Korean refugees in China.

Oregon Civil Air Patrol Prepares for Major USAF Evaluated Exercise

The exercise is designed to train and demonstrate the capability to rapidly respond to a variety of disaster/search and rescue scenarios.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Local Salem squadron cadets refueling This week, six specially equipped Civil Air Patrol Cessna 182 aircraft and approximately 75 adult and teen aged cadet ground support and aircrew members from around the state will be tasked by a USAF evaluation team to respond from their home base locations to a multitude of realistic potential missions.

These missions will involve search and rescue, disaster relief and other emergency operations designed to test their capability to handle a wide variety of real world potential incidents such as earthquakes, floods and tsunamis.

Young Child From Canada Drowns in Molalla River

Officials consider the incident a tragic accident.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - Drowning incident The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office had the sad duty of locating a small child Monday at Feyer Park, in Molalla. Sheriff's Office Spokesman, Detective Jim Strovink, says they learned by Monday evening that the child had died.

The child is identified as 5-year old Markian Barsukoff of Alberta, Canada. "Markian was here in Oregon, visiting with his family to attend a wedding and family reunion," Strovink said.
