New Website Will Aid Oregon Prisoners Reentering Society

Oregon reenty wiki goes live - site provides information to ease transition from prison back to community‏.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com In an effort to improve offenders' successful transition from incarceration to community life, the Oregon Department of Corrections has created the new Oregon Reentry Wiki, and is partnering with local community corrections agencies to post information to the "one-stop-shop" Web site.

Salem`s Stage Two Water Alert Terminated

The City of Salem announced Wednesday that it has ended the Stage Two Water Alert which began Monday, July 27th 2009.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Girl washing car "Over the last three days, Salem has been able to produce and store seventeen million more gallons than we consumed" said Sophia Hobet, Water Services Manager.

Over the weekend, Salem was able to increase its filtration capacity. This combined with the cooler weather and conservation efforts has enabled the City to return to normal operations within the water System.

Man Charged With Rape After Sex Assault in Portland

Detectives believe the suspect could be connected to other crimes in the area of this incident prior to the sexual assault.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Handcuffed Portland Police Officers responded to a call of a sexual assault that had just occurred in the 2900 Block of NE 160th Drive, August 4, 2009 at approximately 2:30 a.m..

Detective Jeff Sharp with Portland Police says dispatchers at 911 received information during the 911 call that the suspect in the sexual assault was possibly still in the area.

Former NW Governors `Fillet` Federal Salmon Plan (AUDIO)

A letter from the Governor asks the federal government to craft a new salmon recovery plan that is "lawful and science-based."

(PORTLAND, Ore. ONS) - Former Governors John Kitzhaber of Oregon, Mike Lowry of Washington, and Cecil Andrus of Idaho In about one week, the federal government will announce whether it will throw out the previous administration's plan for endangered native salmon recovery and start over.

Three former Northwest governors have already made their minds up, including John Kitzhaber here in Oregon, Cecil Andrus in Idaho and Mike Lowry in Washington.

ODOT Employee Struck by Car on Highway 26 (PHOTOS)

The victim came to rest outside his ODOT Vehicle with a sign flashing, "DO NOT PASS", "COULD BE UP TO A 15 MINUTE WAIT" and "WET PAINT".

(IRONSIDE, Ore.) - Oregon highway worker run over, 8-5-09 State Police say an Oregon Department of Transportation employee was struck Wednesday on Highway 26 just east of Ironside, Oregon at approximately 1:00 p.m.

Police say 57-year old Mike Bowen of Elgin, Oregon, was hit by a passing vehicle after getting out of his state vehicle, which was the rear pilot car on a painting crew that was striping the highway near Ironside.
