The animated commercial showed a sunbeam zipping from the Sun to an ear of corn in a field. The voiceover said that it takes eight minutes for the Sun’s goodness to reach the corn in the field.

It’s basic arithmetic. The Sun is an average of 93 million miles away; the speed of light is 186,000 miles per second. Divide 93 million by 186,000 and the answer is 500 seconds, or eight and a third minutes.

Portland Mayor Sam Adams Cleared After 5-Month Investigation

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland Mayor Sam Adams The Attorney General’s office released the results of its five-month investigation Monday, clearing Portland Mayor Sam Adams of wrong-doing. He has been under investigation for possible sexually related contact with Beau Breedlove, who was a minor when first in contact with Adams.

A resignation letter apparently written in January that was never handed in, has surfaced, but Adams, who is the subject of an ongoing recall effort, says he will continue to fight to, "Put Portlanders back to work, address the high-school dropout rate, and strategically plan for Portland’s future."

Lt. Dave Macmaniman with Oregon State Police, says Monday at about 5:05 p.m., a 1997 Ford Escort Wagon driven by 19-year old Samantha Marton of Island City, Oregon was eastbound on Interstate – 84 near milepost 292 in the slow lane traveling between 30- 50 miles per hour with the emergency flashers on due to having mechanical problems.

(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - Firefighters from Forest Grove Fire & Rescue and Cornelius Fire Department were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of NW Verboort Road and NW Porter Road tonight.

Firefighters arriving on the scene found a Ford station wagon that had been hit by a Jeep SUV, off of the road into a line of trees.
