(SAN FRANCISCO FPIF) - Salem-News.com Since the end of the U.S.-led war against Serbia, the country is slowly emerging from the wars of the 1990s. Despite lingering problems, Serbs appear to be more optimistic about their country's future than they have for decades. The United States deserves little credit for the positive developments, however, and a fair amount of blame for the country's remaining problems.

There have been elements of both the left and the right who have perpetuated a myth of American omnipotence, that the United States is somehow responsible for virtually all the good or evil in the world and that the millions of people who engage in political struggle, legitimate or otherwise, are simply pawns of great powers who have no role in their own destiny.

Burr Presses on Camp Lejeune Water Contamination at Hearing

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina) Today, the Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Readiness and Management Support held a hearing on military construction and environmental initiatives.

U.S. Senator Richard Burr (R-North Carolina), Ranking Member of the Subcommittee, raised concerns about the recent National Academy of Sciences (NAS) report on water contamination at Camp Lejeune and pressed the Navy for answers.

“It’s clear that the water at Camp Lejeune was contaminated by a number of hazardous chemicals at unsafe levels,” Senator Burr said.

Senior health officials calculated that only about 500 patients would be eligible for a MJ permit. About 2 years later someone was forging my name on applications and with newspaper publicity, this came to the attention of the Oregon Medical Board and for some reason they felt I was responsible.

I was the only known Oregon Marijuana Doctor and they proceeded to harass me. This story got into the New York Times and Mr. Cooper on CNN picked up on it and interviewed me of the first Nationwide Television interview on Medical Marijuana. Here is the interview, he has continued to interview many other users and advocates.

Senate Rejects Pay Increase for Elected Officials

Senate Bill 778 rejects the increases and authorizes legislative salaries and those of statewide elected officials and judges at their current levels.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon capitol with grass The Senate Wednesday approved a measure that rejects an increase in legislative salaries recommended by the Public Officials Compensation Commission, effectively freezing the salaries of lawmakers and other elected state officials.

“Just like families across Oregon, the Legislative Assembly is tightening its belt. We will be reducing our budget and finding more efficient ways to continue providing the representation and responsiveness Oregonians have come to expect from their elected leaders,” said Senate President Peter Courtney.

New Federal Report Makes Big Climate Change Predictions.

(PORTLAND, Ore ONS) - Salem-News.com Warnings for the Pacific Northwest are dire in a new federal report on climate change. In the works since 2007, "Global Climate Change Impacts in the United States" compiles years of data from more than a dozen federal agencies.

It says Oregon, Washington and Idaho will see hotter temperatures and less water in rivers for fish and wildlife, hydropower, agriculture, wildfire control...and drinking water for people.
