Willamette Tree Wholesale Nursery in Oregon Sued for Sexual Harassment, Retaliation

Latina Workers at an Oregon Nursery were Sexually Harassed, Threatened, and One Woman Repeatedly Raped, Federal Agency Charges.

(SEATTLE) - Willamette Tree Wholesale, a nursery in Molalla, Oregon has been sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for violating federal law.

The U.S. EEOC charged in a lawsuit filed today, that the nursery allowed female employees to be severely sexually harassed and retaliated against the women and male co-workers after they reported the harassment.

This is the agency's third such case against Oregon agricultural employers.

They have dispatched to Chancellor of the Oregon University System, George Pernsteiner what State Representative Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer, St. Paul, Newberg) calls a "sternly worded bi-partisan letter" signed by 34 legislators asking for the state’s public universities to review and revise their gun policies.

Governor Signs Bill Expanding Access to Life-Saving Clinical Medical Trials

(SALEM, Ore.) - Legislation expanding patient access to clinical trials was signed by Governor Ted Kulongoski Tuesday. SB 316 will require insurance companies to cover routine care for patients participating in FDA approved clinical trials.

“This legislation is about access,” said Senate Majority Leader Richard Devlin (D-Tualatin), sponsor of the bill.

Salem Police and Fire were called to 1095 Norway St NE just before 7:00 p.m. last night after 42-year old Patrick Hibler, apparently attempting to manufacture some type of explosive material in the residence, caused a detonation which seriously injured him in several parts of his body.
