Willamette Tree Wholesale Nursery in Oregon Sued for Sexual Harassment, Retaliation

Latina Workers at an Oregon Nursery were Sexually Harassed, Threatened, and One Woman Repeatedly Raped, Federal Agency Charges.

(SEATTLE) - Migrant workers Willamette Tree Wholesale, a nursery in Molalla, Oregon has been sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission for violating federal law.

The U.S. EEOC charged in a lawsuit filed today, that the nursery allowed female employees to be severely sexually harassed and retaliated against the women and male co-workers after they reported the harassment.

This is the agency's third such case against Oregon agricultural employers.

(LOS ANGELES) - Agent Orange Garry Lee Price is dying of cancer in a hospice in Sacramento while the Veterans Administration stalls on his service-related disability claim. His doctors give him two weeks to live. When he dies, the claim dies. And that’s the point.

The Veterans Administration, the health services side of the organization, has already determined that the cancer was caused by Garry’s exposure to Agent Orange while serving in Vietnam.

Oregon Republicans Fight Hard to Bring Guns to University Campuses

34 pro-gun legislators send letter to Oregon University System.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Snubnose revolver A group of Oregon legislators led by two outspoken Republicans, want to see students carry guns on public university campuses.

They have dispatched to Chancellor of the Oregon University System, George Pernsteiner what State Representative Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer, St. Paul, Newberg) calls a "sternly worded bi-partisan letter" signed by 34 legislators asking for the state’s public universities to review and revise their gun policies.

Governor Signs Bill Expanding Access to Life-Saving Clinical Medical Trials

SB 316 will require insurance companies to continue providing routine care to patients.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Oregon governor Ted Kulongoski Legislation expanding patient access to clinical trials was signed by Governor Ted Kulongoski Tuesday. SB 316 will require insurance companies to cover routine care for patients participating in FDA approved clinical trials.

“This legislation is about access,” said Senate Majority Leader Richard Devlin (D-Tualatin), sponsor of the bill.

Salem Man Seriously Injured in Explosion (UPDATE + VIDEO)

A neighbor says the man has a history of causing explosions inside his house.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Scene of explosion in Salem, Oregon 6-17-09 The Salem Police Department Hazardous Device Team or 'Bomb Squad' was called out Wednesday after an explosion severely injured a Salem man.

Salem Police and Fire were called to 1095 Norway St NE just before 7:00 p.m. last night after 42-year old Patrick Hibler, apparently attempting to manufacture some type of explosive material in the residence, caused a detonation which seriously injured him in several parts of his body.

(CALGARY, Alberta) - Iranian Prime Minister Mohammad Mossadeg Iran is back in the news, not that it has been much out of it in the last few years. This time it’s about the outcome of an election that Western countries, particularly the US, don’t like.

Back in 2003, just before the American invasion of Iraq, I predicted (incorrectly as it has turned out so far) that once Bush and co had deposed Saddam Hussein, they would move into both Iran and North Korea—to take care of the Axis of Evil. Then the world would be for…America…to be in control of global affairs again.

Joel Stein, Fire Marshal with Keizer Fire, says the 6-year old sister was evaluated for possible smoke inhalation by Keizer Paramedics on scene but did not require transport to the hospital.
