Sea-Jacking of German-Owned MV Victoria Has Been Confirmed (PHOTOS)

Germany recalled its GSG-9 commando unit from the pirate-infested region over the weekend after deciding that attempting to storm another ship – the Hansa Stavanger – could have ended in a bloodbath.

(SOMALI COAST, Africa) - MV Victoria The Antigua and Barbuda-flagged cargo vessel M/V Victoria had been hijacked by eight pirates in the Gulf of Aden whilst proceeding towards the Port of Jeddah in the Red Sea, the Antigua and Barbuda government said in a statement.

It added that the 7,767 gross ton, 146-metre general cargo vessel had a crew of ten and it was believed the hijacked vessel was being taken to the Somalian port of Eyl, a known pirate lair.

Media reports suggest that up to 100 civilians, including women and children, were killed in air strikes carried out by United States and coalition forces against Taliban fighters.

(KABUL Al Jazeera ) - The newly printed Bible in Dari U.S. soldiers have been encouraged to spread the message of their Christian faith among Afghanistan's predominantly Muslim population, video footage obtained by Al Jazeera appears to show.

Military chaplains stationed in the US air base at Bagram were also filmed with bibles printed in the country's main Pashto and Dari languages.

Salem Police Say Man Used Dog Shock Collar on His Kids

The children, ages 9, 8, 6 and 3 were released to the custody of their mother and the case referred to DHS.

(SALEM, Ore.) - 41-year old Todd Marcum Salem Police detectives have arrested a Salem father for using a dog shock collar on his four children. Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says the man, 41-year old Todd Marcum, shocked the kids because he thought it was funny.

Police say their investigation revealed that the suspect put an electronic dog collar on his four children and he admitted to shocking all of them at least once because he thought it was funny.

Pedestrian Struck on 99W Near Corvallis

Police investigators say motorists should expect delays or use alternate routes.

(CORVALLIS, Ore.) - Crash investigation Police say a crash involving a pedestrian has closed the southbound lanes on Oregon 99W, (Pacific Highway West) at mile post 8.

This is at the junction with Oregon 34,l the Corvallis-Lebanon Highway.

Traffic is being detoured onto Oregon 34 at this time, officials on the scene say.
