Ironically, this is the second time in two years that this Tigard salon has been hit; the firefighters who responded to the first accident were also first to arrive and treat today's victims.
(TIGARD, Ore.) -
Police in Tigard say a 75-year old woman accidentally drove her Mercedes C230 into the Dobler Salon and Swails located at 12950 SW Pacific Highway this morning at 11:00 AM.
Jim Wolf with Tigard Police says the car struck two women inside the salon who were treated by firefighter paramedics from Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue and transported by Metro West Ambulance to a local hospital.
"One of the struck women was initially pinned by the vehicle. She sustained more significant injuries and was entered into the trauma system. An additional woman in the salon was struck with debris, but she chose not to be transported."
I do not doubt God has a plan, but I believe, on the basis of what we know from History and Science, not excluding common-sense, that His plan is concerned more with the large than small details.

Bibles differ, a reasonable truth considering how many versions have been published over time for various denominations
At a concert performed in a Lutheran Church I perused the Book of Isaiah and was surprised that some words were missing in its Bible compared to the one I researched I checked my Bible when I got home and there it was; . If something is not mentioned in the Bible it doesn’t mean God is unaware of it. But if a thing is in the Bible, and is changed or eliminated, what of God; is the Bible the work of man after all? As for the missing passage, the so-called miracle of turning water into wine is explained by replacing a watered-down bottle with an undiluted bottle of wine; simple enough.
The Gospels of Matthew and Mark [Matthew: 21; 1-11 and Mark: 11; 1-10]. tell of Jesus who, to fulfill prophecy, asked for and rode into Jerusalem on the back of an untamed ass, an event celebrated today by Christians as Good Friday.
This is the first in a series of Management Moments by Doug Dickerson, a weekly column designed to bring inspiration to those in the workplace and beyond.
(Charleston, SC) -
In his book, Through the Valley of Kwai, Ernest Gordon shares the true account of life in a World War II Japanese prison camp. The story is about a man who through giving it all away literally transformed a whole camp of soldiers.
The man’s name was Angus McGillivray. Angus was a Scottish prisoner in one of the camps filled with American’s, Australians, and Britons who had helped build the infamous Bridge over the River Kwai. The camp had become an ugly situation. A dog-eat dog mentality had set in. Allies would literally steal from each other and cheat each other; men would sleep with their packs and yet have them stolen from under their heads.
Survival was everything.
Federal conservation payments to Oregon have increased 400% in the last eight years.
(SALEM, Ore.) -
Oregon’s farmers and ranchers are among the nation’s leaders when it comes to tapping into federal conservation programs. Since 2000, the amount of government payments for conservation programs to Oregon producers has grown by more than 400 percent, according to statistics provided by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
That reflects the commitment Oregon agriculture has for protecting and improving the state’s natural resources.
“I think Oregon agriculture has a very good story to tell in terms of its contribution to protecting and enhancing the environment," says Oregon Department of Agriculture Director Katy Coba. “Our farmers and ranchers recognize the importance of investing in measures that sustain the natural resources so important to agriculture.”
