Oregon Guard Night Crew Mission in Iraq (VIDEO)

Oregon Guard soldiers assigned to an aviation support mission for the next year gain confidence in their roles.

(BALAD, Iraq) - Oregon Soldiers in Iraq Soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan have a seven day a week job with few exceptions. Members of an Oregon National Guard aviation support group stationed at Camp Anaconda at Balad, Iraq, are a shining example of those whose operation never rests.

In fact, the Oregon Guard 2/641 Aviation Support Group is in charge of the flight missions of two types of aircraft; the C-23 Sherpa transport plane and the "White Birds" which are the C-12 and Citation jet.

The Army's motto is "We Own the Night" and aviation is one specific area where operational tempo often increases after the sun falls. Flying slow, lumbering aircraft like the Sherpa can be dangerous during the day when enemy fire from the ground can inflict serious damage. At night, Iraq's temperatures are also reduced so the stress on the airplane is less.

A New Axis of Evil

The U.S. is known as the melting-pot of the world, a nation whose greatness was, and is, generated by Unity Through Diversity. It is a concept that needs to be shared by nations and the United States ought to make the first move.

(PASO ROBLES, Calif.) - US politiicans 2008 First it was Iraq, Iran and North Korea, but Palin implies that now it is Obama, Pelosi and Reid, leaders of the Democratic Party, and adds that an election-sweep that gives Democrats a true ruling majority in Congress would inactivate the U.S. agenda.

What is known of the U.S. occupation of Iraq is this; the U.N. Mandate legalizing the occupation ends this year, a Security Pact between Iraq and the U.S. would replace the Mandate, without which continued occupation would be illegal; Iraq’s Parliament won’t agree to the Pact because Iraq wants to be rid of the occupation force, but U.S. has no intention of leaving. Instead it implies chaotic consequences should Iraq not agree that reveals McCain’s obscure excuse for being in Iraq until “the war is won, and the troops can be brought home with honor.”

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - illustration of construction site A new report about the statewide impacts of international trade policies released today by the Oregon Fair Trade Campaign (ORFTC) finds that an estimated 74,500 Oregonians have lost jobs as a result of direct offshoring by their employers or displacement due to imports.

The report provides first-hand accounts of the negative effects that trade-related job loss has had on families and communities throughout the state, quoting from among over 150 interviews ORFTC conducted with displaced workers across Oregon.

“Trade-related job loss is a widespread, on-going problem that is hurting people in all corners of the state,” said ORFTC Director Arthur Stamoulis. “Those employed in manufacturing, agriculture and forest products have obviously been hit very hard by this trend, but increasingly, white-collar, salaried positions are also being shipped overseas.
