Oregon Hiker Rescued After 60` Treacherous Fall

A 24 year old man was walking the trails in Molalla State Park next to the river in the park when he slipped and fell down a 60'cliff.

(CANBY, Ore.) - Oregon hiker rescued On Wednesday about 5:00 PM the Clackamas County Communications Center (CCOM) received an emergency cell phone call from an injured man, 24-year old Nathan Stewart, of West Linn, who had fallen off a cliff while hiking.

Officials say that Nathan Stewart was in distress, injured, may have been unconscious for an unknown period of time and having difficulty breathing.

When Stewart regained conscious he dialed 911 not knowing for sure where he was at he told 911 dispatchers he was at the park by the river.

Cocaine Found During Traffic Stop on Oregon`s Interstate 5

The arrest came during the final days of the latest "Click It or Ticket" campaign as police around Oregon were stepping up enforcement of safety restraint and child safety seat laws.

(CANYONVILLE, Ore.) - Salem-News.com Two men were arrested after Oregon State Police found 1/3 pound of cocaine in their vehicle last Thursday, on Interstate 5 about six miles south of Canyonville.

Police say that September 18th at about 7:42 AM, an OSP senior trooper stopped a 2006 Hyundai driven by 42-year old Paris Deschonn Perrantes, from Vancouver, Washington for an unsafe lane change and following too closely behind another vehicle northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 92.

An OSP drug detection canine assisted during the stop.

Oregon Army National Guard Soldier Killed By IED In Afghanistan

According to the DOD, as of September 23, 2008, there have been 601 total Enduring Freedom US Casualties*.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem-News.com The DoD has announced that 32-year old Captain Bruno Giancarlo de Solenni, of the Oregon Army National Guard died of wounds sustained when an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) detonated near his vehicle near Kandahar, Afghanistan on September 20th.

Two Afghan interpreters were also killed and two soldiers were wounded in the explosion.

Capt. de Solenni and the Counter Narcotics Infantry Kandak Embedded Training Team were enroute from a Forward Operating Base to the Kandahar Air Field when an IED detonated destroying their vehicle.

A recent email from Paul Sullivan Executive Director of Veterans for Common Sense brought the following information:
(1) Bush sent 1.7 million to Iraq, etc
(2) 860,000 are eligible for VA assistance
(3) 347, 750 have been diagnosed and treated
(4) 147,744 diagnosed with mental problems
(5) 75,719 diagnosed with PTSD

I stand corrected. It is much worse than I ever imagined.

Drunk Driver Crashes Into Anti-Drinking Sign in Aloha

The accident knocked out power to parts of the Aloha area, and SW Tualatin Valley Highway was closed for several hours.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - drunk driving sign Deputies investigating the crash determined that the driver, 45-year old Maura Steele of Portland, was driving recklessly on SW TV Highway when she left the roadway.

She crashed into a "don't drink and drive" sign and then a power pole. After striking the pole she traveled approximately 300 feet before stopping her car. She was not injured in the crash.
