Obama Dominates North Carolina; Hillary Barely Survives Indiana

115 delegates were at stake in North Carolina and 72 in Indiana.

(INDIANAPOLIS ) - Barack Obama Barack Obama scored a blow-out win in North Carolina while Hillary Clinton clung to a narrow victory in Indiana last night - delivering a huge blow to Clinton's White House hopes and intensifying a mad-dash for undecided superdelegates.

Obama cruised to a 58 percent to 42 percent win last night in North Carolina, due to the 91 percent support among blacks. In Indiana, Clinton barely survived Obama, 51 percent to 49 percent, but she vowed to press on in her quest for the nomination.

Oregon Letter Carriers Hope to Collect 2 Million Pounds of Food

Most wanted foods include: tuna fish, soups, stews, chili, canned fruits, vegetables, beans, rice and pasta.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - letter carrier food drive Close to 3,000 letter carriers throughout Oregon and Clark County, Wash., will join with letter carriers across America to collect donations of nonperishable food from their postal customers during the annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive on Saturday.

Look for a yellow, plastic food drive bag in your mail during the first week of May. Fill the bag with nutritious, nonperishable food and place it by your mailbox early on Saturday.

65-Year-Old Oregon Man Hit by Over 130 Pellets

The victim was reportedly in the area scouting for a later hunt.

(CENTRAL POINT, Ore. ) - hunting safety Oregon State Police will be referring an investigation to the Jackson County District Attorney's Office for review of possible charges after a hunting-related incident last Saturday that resulted in the non-life threatening injury to a Central Point man.

A 14-year old Medford male was hunting with another juvenile male and their fathers. As they were walking up a forested road they heard turkeys calling and gobbling when the 14-year old boy saw a dark shape in the brush he thought was a turkey.

96 Arrested in San Diego State University Drug Bust

75 SDSU students and 21 non-students have been arrested for various drug offenses ranging from possession of marijuana and cocaine to sales of cocaine.

(SAN DIEGO) - SDSU drug bust Ralph W. Partridge, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration San Diego Field Division and the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office and the San Diego State University Department of Public Safety today announced the culmination of an extensive undercover drug operation on the San Diego State University campus.

They say it led to the arrest of 96 individuals, including 75 students selling or buying cocaine, marijuana, or ecstasy.

Body Recovered on Beach Identified as Missing Aloha Boy

Body Found April 8th on Lincoln City Beach Identified as Missing 16-Year Old Aloha Youth

(LINCOLN CITY, Ore.) - Coast Guard rescuer A body that washed up onto a Lincoln City area beach April 8th was positively identified by the Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office, with the assistance of the Oregon State Police Forensic Services Division, as a 16-year old Aloha youth missing since March 8th.

Ross Barfuss was unaccounted for after he went into the surf in an attempt to rescue and 11-year old boy at Gleneden Beach on March 8th. The 11-year old boy's body was recovered but Ross Barfuss remained missing since that date.

Slight Relief at Pumps Probably Won`t Last as Crude Sets Record

Gas prices have eased off of record highs in the last few days, but don't expect this little bit of relief to last.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Gas pump attendent in Salem, Oregon The statewide average for regular unleaded in Oregon increases almost a cent this week to $3.67, while the national average is up just three-tenths of a cent to $3.61. The main reason gas prices didn't increase as fast in the past week is that the price of crude dropped to around $110 per barrel last week.

Group Says New Law Will Cost College Families $8,000

H.R. 5715 which Bush is set to sign, takes away $2,000 per year of 'free money' from families who qualify for need-based aid.

(BOCA RATON, Fla.) - In 2007, the College Cost Reduction Act (H.R. 2669) increased both the Pell Grant (benefiting students) and the Stafford Loan (benefiting colleges & lenders). While there are far more Stafford borrowers than Pell recipients, the rich got richer at the expense of those less affluent.

Now, in May, 2008, the student loan crisis is taking another turn which will be reinforced by federal legislation (H.R. 5715). Once again, to no one’s surprise, the big winners are the colleges to the tune of $8,000 per student borrower.

Wilsonville Man Dies in Crash Near Newberg

Nicholas Thatcher was not wearing a seat belt. He was flown by LifeFlight helicopter to Emanuel Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

(NEWBERG, Ore.) - Fatal crash investigation Investigators in Yamhill County say a man died in an overnight crash approximately 5 miles east of Newberg. Just after 11:00 PM, deputies were sent out to the location on Wilsonville Road.

One passenger in the car died, and three people in the car were taken to Newberg Providence hospital by Newberg Fire department ambulance where they were treated for minor injuries and released. The crash is still under investigation by the Yamhill County Multi Agency Traffic Team.
