Humanitarian Crises, Aid Can Now be Now You Can 'Googled' Through UN Agency View.

(GENEVA) - Google Earth image Computer users can now zoom down into displacement camps in Darfur, Chad, Iraq, Colombia and elsewhere on Earth in a new on-line program unveiled today by Internet search giant Google and the United Nations refugee agency.

Google Earth Outreach gives the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and other humanitarian agencies the ability to use Google Earth and Maps to graphically bring home their work in some of the world’s most remote areas.

Coast Guard Responds to Cruise Ship Fire on Columbia River

Crewmembers were treated for smoke inhalation and hypothermia.

(MARYHILL, Washington) - The The Coast Guard, state and local authorities have offloaded the passengers and non-essential personnel from the Majestic Cruise Line passenger vessel, Queen of The West, after it suffered an engine fire earlier this morning.

The Queen of The West was beached in a controlled manner in the vicinity of Maryhill State Park, where the passengers were offloaded safely over the vessel's bow ramp.

Woman Arrested for Attempted Arson of a DHS Building

Gresham Police say Marlene Chenette was arrested last night in Vancouver, Washington.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Marlene Chenette Police arrested a woman they believe is connected to a "Molotov Cocktail" style arson attempt on a DHS building. Authorities say Marlene Chenette say became angry with the Department of Human Services over losing her parental rights, and tried to burn the DHS building down in Gresham two years ago.

Teens Arrested Over Beating Posted on MySpace, YouTube (VIDEO)

The attackers told police they were upset with some "trash talk" the victim posted on her MySpace page.

(LAKELAND, Fla. ) - MySpace beating Six teenagers are accused of beating a 16-year-old girl, recording the attack and posting it on the popular social networking sites MySpace and YouTube.

Victoria Lindsay was attacked on March 30th by six teenage girls when she arrived at a friend's home, authorities said. At one point in the video, Lindsay was knocked unconscious, and was later seen pleading to be let out of the house.

Governor Wants to Improve Services for Oregon Veterans

Governor creates task force to strengthen assistance for Oregon veterans.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski signed Executive Order 08-08 last week creating the Governor’s Task Force on Veterans Services to compile, review and evaluate current veterans policies, procedures and programs, and to develop recommendations for improvements to ensure that Oregon veterans have access to the services they need.

The Governor directed the task force identify service needs for the different generations of veterans and to conduct a comprehensive inventory of state and federal services.
