Couple Displays Nature in Photographs and Drawings

WSU Vancouver galleries are open from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday.

(VANCOUVER, Wash.) - Art by Storm A collection representing nature in two different media will be on display March 10th to April 4th at Washington State University Vancouver in the Administration Building gallery. Entry to the campus exhibit is free.

Former partners in a Portland art gallery, Debbie and Storm Smith now own and operate Creative Heartworks in Tigard, Oregon, which produces fine art giclée prints for local artists.

No Relief in Sight from Skyrocketing Gas Prices

Oregon's average for regular unleaded is just a few cents shy of the record high set last May.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Gad pump handle "Here it is early March, and the price of gas is just a few cents away from the record highs set last May." AAA Oregon Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds says, "The Oregon average shoots up another 11 cents this week to $3.36, on top of a 16-cent hike the week before.

The national average is up two-and-a-half cents to $3.17, after an 11-cent increase the week before. The price of crude oil has been in record territory, passing $103 per barrel in trade Monday."

Caltech solar energy experts say covering just 1.7 percent of continental U.S. land surface with photovoltaic solar collectors could produce enough power to meet the nation’s total electricity demand.

ET: The concept of using road surfaces to generate clean solar power is actually already moving beyond the idea stage. Roads absorb heat from the sun every day and are usually free of sightline obstructions that could otherwise block the transmission of light rays.

Portland CFOs Forecast Increase in Second-Quarter Hiring

Survey finds local projection above national results.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Portland, Oregon at night The hiring of full-time accounting and finance professionals in the Portland area is expected to increase in the second quarter of 2008, according to the most recent Robert Half International Financial Hiring Index.

Ten percent of chief financial officers (CFOs) surveyed plan to add staff during the quarter and 3 percent anticipate reductions in personnel. The net 7 percent increase is up one point from the area's first-quarter 2008 forecast and three points above the national average.
