UN Deplores Suicide Attack in Southern Afghanistan

The attack was one of the deadliest in Afghanistan in recent years.

(KANDAHAR, Afghanistan) - Tattered flag on an Afghan Army base UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has strongly condemned the suicide bombing in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar which killed some 80 people, stressing that no grievance or political purpose can justify such attacks.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Mr. Ban said the attack "is yet another tragic reminder of the insecurity in Afghanistan that is undermining concerted attempts by the international community and the Government of Afghanistan to rebuild the country after decades of war."

As a frontline combat veteran, I can only respond that the above is a euphemism - we KNEW we could not survive and we lived in misery. "They are expendable."

Missing 80-Year Old Woman Located in Aloha

Police located the woman today in Aloha.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - 80-year old Mary Jane Carlson The Washington County Sheriff's Office says 80-year old Mary Jane Carlson was located by a citizen who saw a news broadcast requesting help in finding her. Police had been searching for the King City area woman after her son reported her missing.

Aggressive Behavior at Game Leads to Arrest of Basketball Coach

Clackamas County deputies arrest 6th grade girls basketball coach over disturbance at Saturday game.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - 34-year old Jeffery Scott Larsen, a head coach in Molalla, received two technical fouls and was ejected from the game. A disturbance that erupted on the basketball court at Estacada High School Saturday led to the arrest of a coach for Criminal Trespassing of a Sporting Event over the weekend.

Clackamas County Sheriff's deputies in Estacada were called to the school at noon after a report of a disturbance on the court. Problems apparently stemmed from the calls of a 17-year old referee at the 6th grade girls basketball game between Estacada and Molalla.

Deputies Shoot and Kill Suspect After Pursuit

A Beaverton officer attempted to pull the man over earlier the same evening.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - police shooting logo Deputies in Washington County shot a man who died from his injuries Saturday evening after a short pursuit that began at about 5:30 PM. Sgt. Bob Ray with the Washington County Sheriff says both deputies have been placed on administrative leave.

Ray says the pursuit began at SW 175th Avenue and SW Shady Peak Lane. Two deputies pursued 39-year old Shane Grundmeyer, after he failed to yield when they turned attempted to pull him over.

Fatal Traffic Crash on Icy Road East of Santiam Junction

Highway 20 was closed for approximately two hours.

(SALEM, Ore.) - crash scene A Redmond-area man died and three others in his vehicle were injured Saturday morning in a multi-vehicle crash on Highway 20 just east of the Santiam Junction.

About 9:20 AM, a Ford Bronco towing a trailer operated by 48-year old Joseph Bowdin, from Redmond, lost control westbound on an icy section of Highway 20 near milepost 82 in the Santiam Pass, according to Senior Trooper Mike Brady. The trailer hit two other west bound vehicles causing only damage to those vehicles
