Wind generation in BPA Control Area Surpasses 1,000 MW for the First Time

Reaching this 1,000 MW milestone is significant because of the challenges involved with integrating wind power into the region's electrical grid.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Puget Sound Energy`s Hopkins wind project, located in Dayton, Washington The Northwest region has reached a major milestone in the effort to include more clean, emission-free energy in its power supply, Bonneville Power Administration say.

They report that for the first time, the amount of wind power being delivered to customers through its transmission lines has exceeded 1,000 megawatts. That amount of electricity is enough to meet average electricity demand for approximately 680,000 Northwest residences.

Salem Man Missing After Falling from Oregon Coast Cliff

The man fell about 60 feet while taking photographs.

(DEPOE BAY, Ore.) - Photograph of Brian Albert Wells A Salem-area man is missing after he reportedly fell off a cliff at Rocky Creek State Park wayside about two miles south of Depoe Bay while visiting the area with his wife and friend Friday evening.

Friday at approximately 6:00 PM 43-year old Brian Albert Wells of Salem, stopped at Rocky Creek State Park wayside to take pictures.

Gang Assault Leaves Two Injured

Police say there could be a third victim, a female bystander who tried to help the man who was being attacked.

(GRESHAM, Ore.) - handcuffs Two people are in jail after an assault at the 7-Eleven at 162nd and Stark left two injured with knife wounds. A third victim fled before police could speak with her and police were unable to find her. Police believe the assault was gang-related.

Police arrested 19-year old Edward Perez of Portland and 16-year old Javier M. Santa Cruz, also of Portland at the scene.

In response to his prideful posts of censoring users of the SJ Forums, (using extremely inconsistent moderation as I have pointed out before), I sent him an email. He chose to print it (no problem there, I appreciate his printing it) in his blog. What I did not appreciate is his lies he posted with it.

Deep Fryer Only Casualty in McDonalds Fire

It is reported that the fire was started in the deep fat fryer due to possible grease spilling outside the fryer.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Salem, Oregon McDonalds on Hawthorne Avenue Nobody was hurt when a fire broke out this afternoon at the McDonalds Restaurant located at 1598 Hawthorne Avenue NE in Salem. Customers and employees were evacuated from the building as three fire engines and several other rescue related vehicles rushed to the scene at 2:13 PM.

Fire Department Spokesman Bill Holmstrom says that when firefighters arrived on scene, they had smoke coming from the front of the restaurant and visible flames in the area of the deep fat fryer.

Future of F-15 Discussed by Air Force Officials

The future of what was for years the world's most formidable jet fighter, looks like it may be short lived.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Pair of Air Force F-15s in flight Senior Air Force leaders gathered for a press conference in Washington Thursday to share findings from the accident investigation board currently examining the November 2nd crash of a Missouri Air National Guard F-15C Eagle.

They say the upper right longeron, one of four metal beams that help hold the cockpit to the main fuselage - was found to have manufacturing defects. That announcement came from Colonel William Wignall, the head of the F-15 accident investigation.
