Three Injured in DUII Related Crash West of Government Camp

The van's right front passenger reportedly saw the out-of-control driver coming, unbuckled his safety restraints and jumped into the back of the van just before impact.

(GOVERNMENT CAMP, Ore.) - Crash investigation Oregon State Police say three people were injured and one driver is in custody following a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon on Highway 26, about one mile west of Government Camp.

Preliminary information indicates that today at approximately 2:15 PM, a 2008 Nissan Armada SUV was westbound on Highway 26 near milepost 52 when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and crashed nearly head-on with a 1990 Volkswagon Vanagon.

Two Rescued and One Arrested From The Middle Of The Molalla River

Both men were in jeopardy, they were retrieved from a "self-imposed precarious position in the middle of the river", a spokesman said.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - 27-year old Vitaly K. Chernov was arrested and cited for Reckless Driving after driving his Jeep into the Molalla River in Oregon, 1-9-08 Two men were rescued from the top of a submerged automobile in the Molalla River today at Wagon Wheel Park, and the driver was arrested at the scene after being rescued and charged with Reckless Driving. The two were reportedly were in good condition after being rescued and did not require medical attention.

Clackams County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Jim Strovink says the driver of the Jeep was arrested for attempting to cross the river. 27-year old Vitaly K. Chernov of Vancouver, Washington was transported to the Clackamas County Jail and lodged for Reckless Driving. He was cited at the facility and released.

Icy Conditions in Washington County Lead to Fatal Crash

One man died and another was LifeFlighted from the scene, it was one of many serious crashes in Portland today.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Fatal head-on crash in Washington County , Oregon, 1-9-08 This morning Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple car crashes after the temperature dropped below freezing and black ice formed on the roadways. One crash resulted in the death of a Cornelius man.

This morning around 7:49 AM, Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported head-on crash on N.W. Cornelius-Schefflin near N.W. Long Road, Sheriff's Office Spokesman David Thompson said.

Oregon Pilots Airborne Again in the F-15 Jet Fighter

The aging aircraft is still one of the world's best.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Lt. Tyler Cox of the 123rd Fighter Squadron, 142nd Fighter Wing conducts a post-flight inspection of his F-15 A November 2nd crash of an F-15 raised concerns about the safety of the F-15 fleet, and the entire U.S. Air Force fleet of F-15s stood these aircraft over the last part of 2007 and through the early part of this year.

Engineers have focused recently on the A-D models of the jet fighter while allowing the E models to return to flight. Concern centered on the longeron, a critical support structure in the airframe. After intensive inspections some of the F-15's are now returning to flight.

Snowslide Covers Oregon`s Santiam Pass

Eight commercial vehicles and one sport utility vehicle were trapped in the area until it was cleared by ODOT crews.

(SANTIAM JUNCTION, Ore.) - Photos of snow on Oregon`s Santiam Pass, 1-9-08 Oregon State Police troopers again assisted Oregon Department of Transportation crews Wednesday with the Highway 20 closure at Santiam Pass caused by a large snowslide.

According to Oregon State Police Senior Trooper Mike Brady, a westbound sport utility vehicle became stuck at about 10:00 PM last night, causing two commercial trucks behind it also having to stop and became stuck.

IED Rocks Clackamas Near I-205 Freeway

Investigators are seeking information as to who is responsible for detonation of the explosive device.

(CLACKAMAS, Ore.) - IED blast art An improvised explosive device or 'IED' was ignited in Clackamas last night, on the bicycle path that runs parallel to SE Strawberry Lane today on the west side of the I-205 Freeway. Investigators say it went off just after 9:30 PM.

Detective Jim Strovink with the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office, says that at that time a uniformed patrol deputy was southbound on I-205 and witnessed an explosive flash. He said it "charged with enough significant force to propel this wafting explosive plume of light onto the southbound lane of travel onto I-205."

22 Dogs Removed From Home in Animal Neglect Case

Noted health problems included worms, malnourishment, lack of medical care and mange.

(LEBANON, Ore.) - Photos of dog neglect case in Linn County, Oregon, 1-9-08 22 mixed breed dogs ranging from several weeks to several years old were removed from a residence in Linn County. Sheriff Tim Mueller says his deputies served a search warrant this morning over a complaint of animal neglect at a residence located at 34336 East Lacomb Road, approximately 10 northeast of Lebanon.

Fourteen-Year Old Girl Dies Of Injuries From Traffic Accident

(SALEM, Ore.) - Portland Road near I-5 in Salem, Oregon Fourteen-year old Salem student Alma Garcia-Martinez died this afternoon as a result of injuries sustained in a traffic accident two days ago in Salem during freezing weather.

Alma was riding in the rear seat of a 2003 Ford Explorer that was heading northbound at about 6:30 AM on Portland Road at Interstate 5. Her mother, Alma Rosa Olivares-Martinez was driving, according to Lt. Dave Okada with Salem Police.

U.S. Highway 20 Opens Through Santiam Junction

Crews clear the road after four snow slides in less than 18 hours.

(SANTIAM JUNCTION, Ore.) - Oregon`s Santiam Pass in the snow The Oregon Department of Transportation reopened U.S. 20 just before noon on Wednesday following four snow slides in less than 18 hours at mile posts 78.5 - 80.

The latest series of slides occurred Tuesday, January 8th just after 10:00 PM and just before midnight, says Joseph Harwood with the Department of Transportation. "The second slide covered the highway in an estimated 12 - 15 feet of snow. Although several vehicles were stuck in the snow, there were no reported injuries."

A scantily clad image of the city of Arlington, Oregon's mayor is making the rounds on the Web today after news agencies lifted the image from her public MySpace page.

Arlington, Oregon's Mayor Carmen Kontur Gronquist did what many people do in the new Millennium; she posted images of herself on MySpace wearing lingerie. Maybe posing on a city fire vehicle was pushing it a bit, but then I lived in Las Vegas for five years where calendars feature the city's "sexiest firefighters."
