Sketch of Highway 26 Shooting Suspect Released

One of the men shot December 10th remains in a Portland-area hospital.

(ZIG ZAG, Ore.) - A composite drawing of an unidentified suspect has been released by Oregon State Police. The man is sought in connection with the December 10th shooting of two men on Highway 26 in the Zig Zag area that seriously wounded both men.

In addition to the composite drawing released today, two segments of dispatch recordings were previously released to help develop information and leads with the ongoing investigation.

One Person Dies in South Salem Crash

It has been reported that icy conditions may have led to the crash.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A person died today in a crash near the intersection of Vitae Springs Road and Skyline Road in south Salem. The incident had a major impact in traffic this morning affecting many parents who were transporting their children to school.

Marion County Sheriff deputies investigating the crash have re-opened the intersection where it occurred. Jason Myers with the Marion County Sheriff's Office says more information and photos will be released early this afternoon.

Police Investigate Fatal Traffic Crash on Highway 126W Near Mapleton

Oregon State Police troopers from the Springfield Area Command office and Florence work site are continuing the investigation.

(MAPLETON, Ore.) - One person died and three others were seriously or critically injured in a four-vehicle crash late Thursday afternoon on Highway 126W about seventeen miles east of Florence.

Investigators say that around 5:55 PM last night, a Kia Sedona van driven by 57-year old Vyrladean E. Jones of Florence, was westbound on Highway 126W near milepost 17 when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the centerline and collided head-on with an eastbound Honda sedan.

"Based on these results, we believe TurboTax accurately calculated and reported the Kicker Rebate to the Oregon Department of Revenue, as we have been unable to find anything that indicates there is a problem with the software."

Department of Revenue to Refund Kicker Checks Donated in Error

The department will process the checks in the order it gets the information from taxpayers.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Taxpayers who reported that they didn't donate their kicker refund to the State School Fund when they electronically filed their 2006 personal income tax returns can get their kicker refund back, the Oregon Department of Revenue announced.

Deputy Director Susan Browning said the department determined that the law that makes the election to donate the kicker irrevocable applies only to those who make that choice.

Constituents Call on Blumenauer to Support Impeachment

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - At noon today, a group including veterans, grandparents and younger people calling themselves "Individuals for Justice" will sit in front of the main entrance to Representative Earl Blumenauer's Office Building at 729 NE Oregon to demand that he support bringing articles of Impeachment against Dick Cheney and George W. Bush.

For the 21st week the group will call on Blumenauer to respond to the advice of Multnomah County Democrats and the 65 % of the public that supports impeachment.
