Driver Flees Scene After Smashing Into Apartment

A truck crashed into an apartment building actually impacting the kid's bedroom. Fortunately, they had fallen asleep in another room and were unhurt.

(ALOHA, Ore.) - Early Friday morning, a man driving a pickup truck crashed into the side of an apartment building in Aloha. His vehicle struck the room where children normally sleep and caused severe damage to the building. The driver of the truck fled the scene, and deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding him.

Sgt. David Thompson, Public Information Officer with the Washington County Sheriff's Office, says deputies were dispatched to the scene in Aloha where a pickup truck had crashed into an apartment building.

Man Dies After Falling Into Golf Course Water Hazard

Police have not released the name of the victim.

(RIDGEFIELD, Wash.) - Clark County Sheriff's Deputies say a man visiting the area from South Korea died after he fell into a water hazard on a Ridgefield, Wash. golf course Sunday morning.

Police said the 50-year-old man was golfing at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course when he slipped into the water hazard near the 14th fairway.

Pounds of Cocaine and Meth Seized Near Woodburn

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Oregon State Police Drug Enforcement Section detectives are continuing an investigation following a Friday afternoon traffic stop on Interstate 5 in the Woodburn area and arrest of three men allegedly transporting 21 kilos of Cocaine and two pounds of crystal methamphetamine.

At approximately 3:09 PM Friday, two Oregon State Police troopers, one with a drug detection canine, were working traffic enforcement along Interstate 5 north of Salem when they both saw a 2000 Chevrolet Tahoe sport utility vehicle with Washington license plates having difficulty maintaining a single lane of travel.

The suspect, James Worley, is currently on parole for kidnapping and attempted robbery.

(FOREST GROVE, Ore.) - An attempted rape victim who paid attention to her alleged attacker's license plate number, gave police enough information to see the man in custody by the end of the day.

Oregon Native Scott Davis Named UPS Chairman & CEO

(ATLANTA) - The UPS Board of Directors have announced that Chairman and CEO Mike Eskew will step down at the end of the year and will be replaced by Scott Davis, who is currently the company's vice chairman and chief financial officer.

Davis, 55, joined UPS in 1986 when it acquired the technology company II Morrow in Salem, Oregon, where he was CEO. A native of Oregon, Davis was named vice chairman in 2006 and was elected to the UPS Board of Directors that same year.

Oregon Is Poorly Prepared to Weather a Recession

Report Shows Legislature Locked Itself Out of New Rainy Day Fund and Has Failed to Save Enough.

(SILVERTON, Ore.) - Oregon's education, health and other vital state services remain highly vulnerable to an economic recession, despite the Legislature's creation of a Rainy Day Fund earlier this year.

That is the conclusion of a study issued this week by the Oregon Center for Public Policy, which shows that the much heralded Rainy Day Fund has no money available to protect Oregon until July 2009 and that the state's other reserve fund is too small to respond adequately to an economic downturn.
