Warnings Issued Over New Form of Crystalized Methamphetamine

The dangers of methamphetamine are often overshadowed.

(SALEM, Ore.) - Parents are advised to be on the lookout for a new form of crystalized methamphetamine that is targeted at children. Emergency responders around the nation are also being told to be aware of this new form of meth if called to an emergency involving a child that may have symptoms of drug induction or overdose.

This new form of meth is called "Strawberry Quick" and it looks like the "Pop Rocks" candy that sizzle in your mouth. In its current form, it is dark pink in color and has a strawberry scent.

Woman Dead in North Albany Shooting

The cause of the shooting is currently under investigation.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - On Tuesday, at 10:35 PM, Albany Police Officers responded to 2910 NW Miller Lane in North Albany on the report of a shooting.

Responding officers found an adult male and female at the home, both of whom had been shot in the head.

58-year-old Deborah Davis, a resident of 2910 NW Miller Lane, was transported to Samaritan Albany General Hospital by medics where she was later pronounced dead.

Bend Man Tries to Elude Deputies in RV

A breath test on the suspect showed his blood alcohol content at .25, more than three times the legal limit.

(STAYTON, Ore. ) - On Tuesday, just before 4:30 PM, Marion County Sheriff's Deputy Matt Wilkinson noted that a recreational vehicle he was following on Hwy 22 east of Stayton had expired registration tags.

He stopped the motorhome, a 21' 1978 Flair, at about mile post 28 and contacted the driver, 45-year-old Irvin Wetzell, of Bend.

As Deputy Wilkinson was talking to Wetzell, Wetzell put the motorhome in gear and drove away westbound on Hwy 22.

(ALBANY, Ore. ) - On Tuesday, at 10:45 AM, Albany Police Detectives arrested 70-year old Albany resident, Leo James Christian, a registered sex offender, in connection with an on-going sex abuse investigation.

The investigation began in June 2007 when an 18-year-old female Albany resident reported to police that she had been sexually abused by Christian, a family friend, when she was 13-years old.

Crews Pull Car from Minnesota Bridge Wreckage

Flags flew at half staff at the Minnesota Capitol on Wednesday, one week after the Interstate 35W bridge collapse.

(MIINEAPOLIS) - Recovery crews pulled a car Tuesday from the wreckage in the Mississippi River by the collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge, clearing the way for Navy divers to search for more victims hidden in the murky waters.

Authorities pulled a car out of the river, but there were no bodies inside.

Federal authorities are using a robotic, arm-groping submarine, a helicopter equipped with cameras and detailed images being captured from scanners onshore to help search for the missing.

Oregon State Police Looking for Trooper Applicants

OSP Project 200, developed by OSP Captain Walt Markee, is a two-year plan to recruit, test, select, and train 200 recruit troopers.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon State Police is now in the second phase of an unprecedented, aggressive recruitment and training plan for interested potential applicants considering a career as an OSP Trooper.

Men and women in Oregon and around the country interested in a law enforcement career with the Department must have their application turned in by October 31st to be considered for the second phase of one of three upcoming Entry Level Testing opportunities on to-be-determined dates and at locations in Salem (November), Pendleton (December), and Medford (December).

OSP Seeking Applicants for Evidence Technician Positions

All applicants will be subject to a Computerized Criminal History and DMV check, as well as a thorough background investigation.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - The Oregon State Police has received Legislative authorization to add four additional Evidence Technician civilian positions to strengthen the Department's investigative capabilities and help free up Troopers and Sergeants to work critical patrol-related duties.

The deadline to apply for the four positions that will be in Newport, Klamath Falls, LaGrande and Ontario is August 23rd.

(SALEM, Ore.) - A dream for children was realized this month with the unveiling of the first indoor playground facility in Oregon.

Elizabeth McDonough of Salem says that after much planning and research, her group was able to create a playground that took into account the most creative and successful aspects of indoor playgrounds around the world.

When I survived World War II, I decided I did not want to do that again—EVER. It took me about thirty years before I could even think about my experiences, and I’m not over it yet—neither the war itself or Ken Burns movie excerpts.
