Police Initially Missed Crashed Car With Bodies of California Travelers

Fatal crash of couple on Oregon coast was reported by a witness.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - Oregon State Police said today that the crashed car discovered Sunday containing the remains of a California Priest and his traveling companion, was reported as a vehicle going straight "off the road" by a 911 caller when it first happened on June 8th.

June 8th is the day that David Schwartz and Cheryl Gibbs were last believed to be in the Portland area.

(VANCOUVER, Wash. ) - On June 30th, 20-year-old Darby Rochette was reported to the Vancouver Police Department as a Missing Person.

Darby has been a student at the Tongue Point Job Corps in Astoria, Oregon for the past eighteen months.

She was scheduled to leave Astoria and return to Vancouver, to stay with her grandmother, for the weekend.

Putin Offers to Cooperate with U.S. on Missile Defense

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Russian President Vladimir Putin pledged to increase cooperation with the United States as it moves toward establishing a missile defense program in Europe, he told reporters during a news conference today with President Bush.

The two leaders met at Bush's family home in Kennebunkport, Maine, to discuss bilateral relations. Speaking about missile defense, Putin seemed more agreeable than during the most recent U.S.-Russian dialogue on the topic.

Man Dies in Construction-Related Accident on I-205 in Oregon

The victim was fatally injured when a steel bar landed on a control pedal for the backhoe.

(Tualatin, Ore.) - A contract construction worker was killed Sunday night from injuries suffered when he was pinned between a backhoe's stabilizer landing gear and the rear bucket while working in a highway construction project on Interstate 205 just north of Interstate 5.

Lieutenant Gregg Hastings with Oregon State Police says the victim has been identified as 47-year old David Leroy Lasley.

(ATLANTA) - Chris Benoit's doctor surrendered to authorities today in connection with a drug probe related to the murder-suicide of the pro wrestler and his family.

A lawyer for Dr. Phil Astin told the AP the physician will face a single charge involving improperly prescribing medication.

Federal drug agents have taken over the probe into whether Astin improperly prescribed testosterone and other drugs to Benoit before he killed his wife and son and committed suicide

I'm a bit surprised at the cavalier use of “intoxication.” Nobody says that patients who are using Morphine or Oxycontin are intoxicated, but they certainly are by the same token.

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I found this article discussing this subject with a computer search. The title was “Marijuana: Medical Implications” from the journal American Family Physician (Vol. 60/No.9, pgs. 2583-93) by Dr. John R. Hubbard, et al at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

The first few sentences in the abstract are: “Over 50 percent of people will use marijuana sometime in their life. While intoxication [sic] lasts two to three hours, the active ingredient...[THC], can accumulate in fatty tissues, including the brain and testes [ouch].”
