JELD-WEN Foundation Pledges $2.5 Million Gift to Willamette University

WU's Atkinson Graduate School is one of only two MBA programs in the nation dually accredited for business administration and public administration.

(SALEM) - The JELD-WEN Foundation of Klamath Falls has pledged $2.5 million to Willamette University to create an endowed chair in Free Enterprise at the Atkinson Graduate School of Management.

Columbia River Tribal Leaders to Speak at Willamette on Founders Day

The event is on Willamette’s Founders Day, recognizing the university’s founding by Jason Lee and other Methodist missionaries who came to the Willamette Valley in 1834 to open an Indian mission school.

(SALEM) - Tribal leaders Carol Craig of the Yakama Nation and Louis Pitt of the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation will speak Thursday at Willamette University about “Ancestral Rights and Responsibilities.”

Salem Volunteers Sought For Bone, Muscle Study

The therapy period will last six months.

(SALEM) - Researchers at Oregon State University are seeking senior citizen volunteers from the Salem area for a study on the use of whole body vibration to aid people who have had hip replacement surgery.

The portion of the study and exercise therapy being done in Salem will conducted under the supervision of Johnny W. Galver, a physical therapist, at the BPM Physical Therapy Center.

Customized workouts will be created for volunteers ages 60-75 who have had hip replacement surgery in the past three years.

Crash on Hwy 101 North of Gearhart Claims Life of One Man

PFC Ryan Hill will Return Home to Oregon Wednesday

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 AM at the Peoples Church, 4500 Lancaster Drive NE in Salem.

(SALEM) - PFC Ryan J. Hill from Keizer who lost his life in an IED blast in Iraq on January 20th will be returned to Oregon on Wednesday between 11:15 AM and 11:30 AM.

From Portland, there will be a procession from Portland to the AAsum-Dufour Funeral Home in Albany.

The family of PFC Hill would welcome citizens to be present along the route to show their support and pay respects for one of Oregon's Fallen Soldiers.

Oregon, West Coast Gas Prices Continue to Fall

In the Salem-area, the price for a gallon of regular unleaded fell another 7-cents in the last week to $2.48.

(SALEM) - The national average price for a gallon of regular continues to fall but at a much slower pace than in previous weeks.

During the past week, the national average price dropped by less than a penny per gallon to $2.15, while Oregon's statewide average price declined by almost nine cents to $2.47.

In the same time period, California's statewide average fell by almost four cents and Washington's went down seven cents.

Police Issue 130 Citations During Capitol Mall Crosswalk Safety Campaign

Officers involved in the saturation stopped motorists for numerous violations regarding pedestrian safety, such as crosswalk violations and speed violations.

(SALEM) - Last week, the Oregon State Police, in cooperation with the Salem Police Department and Marion County Sheriff's Office, conducted a crosswalk enforcement saturation for pedestrian safety in and around the Oregon Capitol Building.

Over 130 warnings and citations for multiple violations were issued.

Plans are being developed to continue with this joint enforcement project in this area during the coming months.

(NEW YORK) - According to new public polls Tuesday, Hillary Clinton is opening up a significant lead over both Democrats and Republicans in the key battleground state of Ohio, and has a substantial lead over her primary opposition in New Hampshire.

The polls in these individual states echo the trend of recent national polls showing Clinton leading in the race for President.
