Saxton Continues to Dodge The Question: What is Your Plan For The State?

Twenty of us were undecided voters until Tuesday night.

(SALEM) - Now I’m no politician, or reporter, and rarely do I have time to get into the middle of a debate over who should be Oregon’s next Governor, but while hosting a party Tuesday night, 20 of us, all undecided voters, started watching KGW’s Gubernatorial debate between Republican Challenger Ron Saxton and current Oregon Governor Democrat Ted Kulongoski.

One thing sure stood out to all of us, Kulongoski has a clear vision and plan for Oregon’s future, Saxton doesn’t, or if he does, won’t tell us what it is until after the election.

Now while Kulongoski has not been a real winner in most people’s eyes during his first term, Saxton is NO better.

Magnitude 4.9 Earthquake Rattles Off Northern California Coast

The quake comes just two days after Sunday’s 6.7 earthquake in Hawaii. No tsunami warnings were issued for Oregon or California.

(EUREKA, Calif.) - A 4.9 magnitude earthquake rattled off the Northern California coast at 12:53 PM Tuesday afternoon.

According to the US Geological Service, the quakes' epicenter was located 89 miles west/southwest of Eureka, California.

No tsunami warnings for Oregon or California were issued by the National Weather Service.

Officials say the quake had a depth of just over 11 miles.

National Average Gasoline Price Decline Slows; Oregon Average Price Still Among Nation`s Highest

National fuel prices are declining slowing somewhat. Oregon's still moving at a good pace, but the statewide average is still 33-cents higher than the national average.

(SALEM) - The steady decline in fuel prices nationwide slowed in the last week as the average price for a gallon of regular gasoline went down by almost 4-cents to $2.22. In Oregon, the average price fell by more than 6 and a half cents to $2.55 per gallon.

Governor Praises Steady Job Growth And Lower Unemployment

(SALEM) - Governor Kulongoski Monday praised Oregon’s continuing job growth, which has propelled Oregon to the "top ten list" of states for job creation since the Governor took office in January 2003.

"For the past three and half years, I’ve worked to build an economy that is strong, competitive and fair," the Governor said. "Our efforts are paying off. We have a growing economy, and more Oregonians are working than ever before. I will continue my efforts to expand our economy, diversify our industries and boost the skills of our workforce. My goal is to ensure that everyone gets a chance to succeed and prosper."

Sweet Home Man Arrested in Salem Pipe Bomb Case

Lonnie Glinski is being held without bail at the Marion County Jail. He is scheduled to appear in Marion County Court at 8:30 AM Wednesday.

(SALEM) - Salem police on Tuesday arrested a Sweet Home man in connection with a string of pipe bombs found in Salem and Dallas on August 10th.

44-year-old Lonnie Troy Glinski, was arrested at his home and charged with seven counts of attempted aggravated murder, and four counts of possession of a destructive device.

Investigators said the bombs were large, sophisticated and powerful enough to kill the drivers of those cars.

Glinski's live-in girlfriend Laurie Girtman was also arrested and charged with hindering prosecution.

Son of Measure 11 is Born, to go Before Oregon Voters in 2008

Measure 11, a 1994 ballot measure, set minimum mandatory sentences for violent crimes and serious sex offenses. It was approved by Oregon voters, by a nearly two-thirds majority, and went into effect on April 1st, 1995.

The Salvation Army Response to Earthquake in Hawaii

Monetary donations may be sent to your local Salvation Army earmarked “Hawaiian Earthquake Disaster Relief” or they can be made online.

(PORTLAND) - The Salvation Army in Hawaii activated its emergency response network across the state in response to the 6.6 magnitude earthquake which hit in the early hours of Sunday, October 15th.

Salvation Army disaster personnel are handing out water and sandwiches to travelers stranded at the airport and are on standby to assist the Red Cross in their sheltering operation on the Big Island.

At present, power outages, jammed phone lines and limited access to food supplies are reported on the islands. Staff is all accounted for and report that there has been no major damage to any Salvation Army facilities.

Police Seeking Information, Witnesses After Man Struck by Projectile

Police believe the man was shot by either a .22 caliber bullet or air rifle pellet.

(CORVALLIS) - Corvallis police are asking for the public’s help in locating who may have shot a Corvallis man on Saturday.

Just before 6:00 PM a Corvallis man was struck by an unidentified projectile in the left thigh. The man was in an alleyway in the 300 block of NW 25th Street when the incident occurred.

The man was transferred to the Good Samaritan Hospital Emergency Room by ambulance.

Woman Faces Murder Charges Over Infant`s Death

In Oregon, the crime of Murder is punishable by a sentence of life imprisonment, with a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years.

(SALEM) - A Salem woman has been charged with Murder in the death of her 5-month old son, who died after injuries that he received October 6th.

Prosecutors say the woman, 17-year old Denisse Monteserrat Jimenez-Eugenio, engaged in a pattern and practice of assault and torture that led to the baby's death.
