Video of Plane in Final Moments Before Crash

A home video camera recorded the Hawker Hunter jet fighter in its last moments of flight.

(HILLSBORO) - Home video of a Hawker jet fighter's last moments of flight were recorded by an Oregon airshow visitor as the pilot, Bob Guilford of Los Angeles, California, made his last decisions before plunging into a Hillsboro, Oregon neighborhood Sunday.

Guilford, a California attorney, was a veteran pilot who owned and was qualified to fly many different high performance military aircraft over his 44-years as a private pilot. The plane he was flying was a Hawker Hunter.

Hawker manufactured the cold war fighter called the "Hunter" for several years beginning in the mid-1950's. Like most successful military jet aircraft, the Hunter was redefined with improvements over time and came in single and two-seat versions.

Thatcher Launches Effort to Combat Meth in Neighborhoods

Thatcher's plans could allow the community to reclaim many of the homes damaged by meth production.

(SALEM) - “We need to encourage, not discourage community groups who want to help in the fight against meth,” said State Representative Kim Thatcher (R-Keizer) as she announced new legislation to assist community groups trying to rehabilitate homes ruined by methamphetamine labs.

After a Legislative Committee met with realtors today, Thatcher asked industry experts about the problems associated with cleaning up and reselling houses formerly occupied by meth cooks.

Last year, Thatcher toured a home in Keizer which was purchased and then renovated by the Salem Association of Realtors.

Real estate agents Lisa and Pete Zielinski assisted with the project. “I appreciate Representative Thatcher’s interest in programs like this and her willingness to open doors to make this more feasible for other organizations,” said Lisa Zielinski.

(SALEM) - Local cops are gearing up for the upcoming Pigbowl Football Games. If you're ever seen these guys play, you know they're as committed to the game as they are to the kids that the event benefits. In fact, last year's lineup was on a par weight-wise with an NFL team.

Most of them played in high school and college and they hail from all kinds of local agencies in police, corrections and beyond.

Law enforcement for Youth is a group that never stops working to improve life for kids, and kids today are facing challenges that many of us never expected. Still, we can take solace in the knowledge that dozens of area police officers and their supporters spend much of their off-work time in volunteer roles working on projects that truly benefit the community.

Over 13 Pounds of Marijuana Found at Traffic Crash Scene, Three Arrested

(GRANTS PASS) - Oregon State Police troopers arrested three Portland-area men Saturday night after responding to a single vehicle rollover crash northbound Interstate 5 near Rogue River and finding over 13 pounds of marijuana.

Oregon State Police Sergeant Mark Byrd and Senior Trooper Greg Costanzo, with his drug dog "Cookie", responded to a single vehicle rollover crash northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 48 around 6:30 PM Saturday.

Upon arriving at the scene, police say they found there were three occupants one of which subsequently was transported for treatment of minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicated a 2002 Ford Explorer driven by 35-year old Scott Firkus of Milwaukie, Oregon was northbound on Interstate 5 when it drifted into the center median and rolled several times. Firkus was accompanied in the vehicle by two male passengers identified as 23-year old Matthew kahoe of from northeast Portland, and 34-year old William Walker of Oregon City.

Man Missing Since Friday Found Safe, Then Placed in Handcuffs

A Springfield man missing since Friday has been found safe near Donaca Lake in east Linn County.

(ALBANY) - Linn County Sheriff Tim Mueller says search teams located 36-year-old Michael Lee Walter, who was reported missing Saturday afternoon by his family during a camping trip in a remote area approximately 60 miles east of Sweet Home.

The last time Walter had been seen by his family was approximately 6:00 PM Friday. Family members initially attempted to locate him themselves, but were unsuccessful.

A Linn County Sheriff's Office dispatcher located Walter on a road near the search area at approximately 8:15 AM Monday morning.

Graeme R. Frasier was ejected from a 1972 Ford pick-up when its driver lost control according to investigators.

Jet Pilot Who Died in Hillsboro was One of The Best

Robert Guilford was an extremely experienced pilot with 4,000 hours logged over 44-years of flying.

(HILLSBORO) - The pilot who died during at an airshow in Hillsboro, Oregon is a distinguished attorney from Los Angeles, California. Robert E. Guilford was also a distinguished pilot, becoming proficient in his lifetime with a number of different fighter aircraft that he flew at airshows.

Mr. Guilford was born in Cleveland, Ohio, April 14, 1933. After completing his education at the University of Virginia where he earned a B.A., with Honors in Philosophy, and Harvard Law School where he graduated with a J.D. in 1958, he began to practice law in California, joining the state bar in 1959. It didn't take long for the young attorney to also gain his commercial pilot's license with an instrument rating.

His many affiliations included membership in the Lawyer-Pilots Bar Association, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, the Experimental Aircraft Association, and the Classic Jet Aircraft Association where he served was a past Chairman.
