Four People from Portland Killed in Crash

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

(SANDY, Ore. ) - Death Investigation Four people from Portland were killed early Monday morning in a single vehicle accident in rural Clackamas County.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office identified those killed as the driver; 31-year-old Brandon Mayo, and his three passengers; 20-year-old Shalene Newland, 20-year-old Jesse Jasso-Varsamas, and 39-year-old Suzanne Marie Varsamas.

Human Rights Defenders Beaten and Detained by Bangladesh Police

Police violently attacked human rights protesters participating in a hunger strike.

(LONDON) - Moshrefa Mishu by Nowrose At least 1,200 workers from five factories under the Tuba Group have been on a hunger strike at Hossain Market since 28 July 2014 demanding three months of unpaid wages and festival bonuses.

Early on 6 August 2014, the main gate of Hossain Market was locked by an unknown individual. It is believed that this was done to stop human rights defenders from providing medical supplies to the hunger strikers.

(DALLAS, Ore. ) - Polk County Sheriff One year after converting its gasoline patrol vehicles to propane autogas, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office - based in Dallas, Oregon - is reporting significant fuel savings and reduced emissions.

Within 18 months, the department saved $25,000 in fuel costs and took advantage of a 2013 federal tax credit worth another $8,000.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says at 3:00 p.m. deputies, Polk County Fire District #1, and Oregon State Police were called to the scene of crash involving a 1989 Honda Civic.

Injured Hiker Rescued From Mount Saint Helens

The isolated location of where the individual sustained his injury made it difficult for emergency responders to rescue him.

(MOUNT SAINT HELENS, Wash.) - Mount Saint Helens A Coast Guard Air Station Astoria MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew rescued a 40-year-old Kelso, Washington, resident who suffered a leg injury while hiking 4,100 feet up Mount St. Helens, Monday.

The man was successfully hoisted and transported to Long View Hospital where he was met by local emergency medical services for further transport to advanced medical care.

(HILLSBORO, Ore. ) - Intel Corporation Hillsboro Representatives of Washington County, the City of Hillsboro and Intel Corporation announced on Monday that a proposed agreement has been reached for Intel to invest up to $100 billion in the county.

The announcement culminates negotiations under Oregon's Strategic Investment Program, a private-public partnership that has driven billions of dollars of investment in Oregon over the last two decades.

One of America`s Funniest Men, Robin Williams, Dead at 63

Williams received two Emmy Awards, four Golden Globes, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and five Grammy Awards.

(TIBURON, Calif. ) - Robin Williams Actor-comedian Robin Williams was found dead on Monday at his home in Northern California from an apparent suicide, Marin County Sheriff's Office said. He was 63.

The sheriff's coroner's division said it suspects the death was a suicide due to asphyxia, but the cause of death is still under investigation.

Oregon Bee Deaths Not From Pesticides

In addition, Oregon State University examined bee samples from Clackamas County for pests and disease.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Bee Deaths Laboratory analysis of dead honeybee samples taken from hives in Clackamas County this summer show no detection of pesticides.

According to the Oregon Department of Agriculture, which conducted the testing and analysis, other factors are likely to be responsible for the death of thousands of bees from colonies owned by four local beekeepers.
