When infectious hospital wastes from other states are offered the Brooks incinerator remains ready-and-willing.

Mannix says Kulongoski is big on programs, but short on achievement

(Portland) - Republican contender for Oregon Governor Kevin Mannix offered his criticism of Governor Kulongoski`s State of the State Speech Friday. `We have serious challenges facing us today: kids education, access to healthcare, and growing our economy. But listening to the Governor`s speech today reminded me of the movie Groundhog Day.` Mannix makes no reference to Republican led efforts to fight additional educational funding last year.

Sundance Finalist to Appear at Mid-Valley Video Festival

(Salem) - Sundance may be over and the Oscars yet to come, but Northern Lights Theater Pub is hosting a festival of their own Feb. 24th, 25th, and 26th: the third annual Mid-Valley Video Festival.

The festival began as a one day event at the Elsinore theater two years ago. Now it has expanded to an entire weekend and outgrown its original facilities. Over 14 hours of submissions are being sorted through. In addition, there will be a consumer advocacy screening of the Salem-filmed movie `One Flew Over the Cuckoo`s Nest.`

FBI Drops Courtney as Suspect in Two Oregon Murder Cases

(Portland- AP) - The F-B-I says it has eliminated the man charged in the murder of Brooke Wilberger -- as a suspect in two of three other cases it was investigating.

Joel Courtney is charged in the kidnapping and murder of the 19-year-old.

Courtney is being held in Albuquerque on unrelated charges involving the rape of a student there. He was indicted in the Wilberger case last July.

Man Walks Away From Plane Crash

(Hillsboro) - The pilot and sole occupant of a plane survived a crash Thursday near Hillsboro. Around 9:09 AM, Deputies from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Firefighters from Washington County Fire District #2, responded to the scene of the crash in unincorporated Washington County.

Deputies say they received a report from the Portland Airport tower that a "mayday" was broadcast, and an Emergency Location Transmitter (ELT) had been activated in the area of the Twin Oaks Airport.
