Search to Resume for Teen Presumed Drowned in Mill Creek

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Mill Creek Rescue As Salem-News.com was first to report Sunday night, Salem Police, Salem Firefighters, and a rescue dive team from the Newberg Fire Department spent the overnight hours searching Mill Creek in SE Salem for a teenage boy who is presumed drowned.

Salem Police and firefighters were called out to Lakeside Community Mobile Home Park, located at the 3200 block of Turner Rd. SE around 9:00 p.m. Police said the boy jumped into the water and never resurfaced. Police said the water depth of Mill Creek ranges from areas of 2-3 feet to pools that are 10-15 feet deep.

UPDATE 10:55: Salem Police have recovered the boys body from Mill Creek.

Israel Announces Short Ceasefire as Death Toll Nears 2,000

(GAZA CITY) - Gaza Bomb Damage Israel said it would unilaterally hold fire in most of the Gaza Strip on Monday to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and allow some of the hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced by an almost four-week-old war to go back to home.

The announcement, made first to Palestinian media, met with suspicion from Gaza's dominant Hamas Islamists and followed unusually strong censure from Washington at the apparent Israeli shelling on Sunday of a U.N.-run shelter that killed 10 people.

Mother Wanted for Death of Toddler, Injured Teen in Ore. Motel Room Arrested

This was the first homicide in Cannon Beach in almost 50 years.

(CANNON BEACH, Ore. ) - Jessica Smith Police in Cannon Beach, Oregon say they have arrested the mother who was wanted in connection with the murder of her 2-year-old daughter and the attempted murder of her teenage daughter.

40-year-old Jessica Smith was taken into custody Sunday afternoon after her vehicle was found in a heavily forested area near Cannon Beach, police chief Jason Schermerhorn said.

UPDATE #3: Rescue Crews to Resume Search for Teen Presumed Drowned in Salem Creek

(SALEM, Ore. ) - BREAKING NEWS Salem Firefighters and Salem Police are conducting a search of Mill Creek and other waterways in SE Salem in and around Cascade Gateway Park for a child that has been reported missing.

A rescue boat has been brought in to search for what Salem-News.com has learned is a male teenager. Salem-News.com in on scene, and an active search for the child is being conducted in Mill Creek upstream and at Walter Wirth Lake inside the park. Rescue crews are also searching ditches and other grassy areas in and around the park.

UPDATE 11:14 p.m.: The Newberg Fire Department dive team has been called into assist and evaluate the situation.

UPDATE: 12:30 a.m.: Search crews have called off the search for the night. Units will remain in the area in case something is discovered overnight. Salem-News.com will have more information in the morning.

UPDATE: 8:00 a.m.: Search and Rescue crews will be back out searching for a 16-year-old boy who they believed drowned Sunday night while swimming in Mill Creek.

Mom Wanted in Connection of Toddlers Death NOT Arrested in Salem

(SALEM, Ore. ) - BREAKING NEWS Salem Police and the Marion County Sheriff's Office have both confirmed to Salem-News.com Sunday night that 40-year-old Jessica Smith of Goldendale, Washington, who is wanted in connection with the death of a toddler and her teen sister found critically wounded in a Cannon Beach hotel, was NOT arrested in Salem or Marion County as many people on social media have been reporting.

Salem Police Lt. Steve Birr says their office has been getting lots of calls about the situation, and that Salem Police arrested Smith are not true. Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge also confirmed that currently there is nobody being held at the Marion County Jail.

Israeli Troops Leaving Gaza after Deadly Air Strike on UN School

The United States was "appalled by today's disgraceful shelling" and urged Israel to do more to prevent civilian casualties.

(GAZA CITY) - Gaza Death Toll An Israeli air strike killed 10 people and wounded about 30 on Sunday in a U.N.-run school in the southern Gaza Strip, a Palestinian official said, as dozens died in Israeli shelling of the enclave and Hamas fired rockets at Israel.

With the fighting in its 27th day, Reuters TV footage showed a column of Israeli tanks and dozens of infantrymen leaving Gaza. But an Israeli military spokesman denied reports by Israeli and some U.S. media that most Israeli troops had been pulled out of the coastal enclave.

Two Dead, Three Injured after Car Plunges into Molalla River

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - police car night The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is still investigating a single vehicle crash near Molalla, Oregon that killed two people, and sent three others to the hospital.

Clackamas County Sheriff's Office spokesman Deputy Ben Frazier says deputies were called out to the crash just after 8:00 p.m. on S Molalla Forest Road and they found that a passenger vehicle had gone off the road, went down a steep 100 foot embankment and ended up in the Molalla River.

Woman, Boyfriend, and Dog Rescued After Fall in Rural Marion County

"We just ask that people stay on the regular groomed trails," said Sergeant Shane Burnham with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

(MILL CITY, Ore. ) - Oregon Army National Guard Rescue crews spent two hours Saturday afternoon saving three hikers in the Opal Creek Wilderness, one of which sustained serious injuries and had to be airlifted out of the area, and was taken Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

Marion County Sheriff's Office spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says around 3:00 p.m., deputies were flagged down and rushed to the scene where a hiker who had fallen thirty feet after her rope broke. The trio was making their way down to a pool of water on a steep decline.
