Three Teens Found Safe after Opal Creek Hiking Trip

All three boys are healthy and uninjured.

(LYONS, Ore) - Opal Creek Three teens who went out on a hiking trip Saturday in the Opal Creek Wilderness area east of Salem, are now safe and back with family members.

The Marion County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue Team tells Salem-News.com that the three boys decided it was too dark out and decided to stay the night and walkout in the morning light.

Oregon, Washington Farmers Donate 85,000 Pounds of Food to Local Food Banks

Farmers in Oregon and Washington donate an average of 13.5 million pounds of food every year.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Oregon Farmers Food banks in Washington and Oregon received the equivalent of more than 85,000 pounds of food from the 2nd Annual Northwest Farmers Fighting Hunger Cash/Food Drive - nearly 50 percent more than the 58,000 pounds donated in 2013.

Cash donations were emphasized in order to take full advantage of the purchasing power of the Oregon Food Bank Network. Funds raised from Northwest Farmers Fighting Hunger will help get more nutrient-rich dairy foods, such as milk, cheese and yogurt into emergency food boxes.

Although it has been recorded in history for about 4,000 years, it probably has been around longer than that. Even military dogs get it, so it must be much more universal for thinking critters than we have considered.

We, as a country, have recorded PTSD in every war since our revolutionary war, but it certainly afflicted soldiers far before that time.

Portland Police Searching for Missing Man with Brain Injury

His family does not believe he has the ability to find his way home.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - James Jim Reynolds The Portland Police Bureau's Missing Persons Unit is asking for the public's help locating 56-year-old James "Jim" Reynolds.

Reynolds was last seen on Saturday, at approximately 5:00 p.m., at Claudia's Bar, located at Southeast 30th Avenue and Hawthorne Boulevard. Reynolds has a brain injury from a motorcycle crash and has a diminished mental capacity and memory problems.

Suspicious Package Turns Out to be Pot of Bean Soup

After sealing the area off, deputies called experts with the Oregon State Police Bomb Squad who responded and opened the pot.

(WOODBURN, Ore. ) - Bean Soup Pot Marion County Sheriff's Deputies and the Oregon State Police would like to remind residents to properly dispose of their household garbage after an incident that required police to call in the bomb squad.

Marion County Sheriff's spokesman Sergeant Chris Baldridge says deputies were called out to the report of a suspicious package of Front Street near Crosby Road, north of Salem at 10:45 a.m. Saturday.

Public Meeting to Address Public Safety Concerns in Polk County

Polk County District Attorney Aaron Felton will address all public safety issues and concerns at 7:30 a.m., on Tuesday, August 5, at the Courtyard Coffee House, 156 SE Mill Street in Dallas.

(DALLAS, Ore. ) - Polk County Sheriff Residents of Polk County are invited to an open meeting with the Polk County District Attorney to discuss and listen to the public's idea's about current public safety issues the county is currently facing.

The Sheriff's office reduced patrols to 10 hours per day on March 29, due to funding reductions. The impact has been a total of 332 calls from citizens during the hours of 10:00 p.m. to noon since March 29 through May 31 in which no deputies were available to respond.

Anyone who may recognize this person, or who has information regarding the robbery, is asked to call 503-980-2460.

(WOODBURN, Ore.) - Woodburn Armed Robbery Suspect Police in Woodburn are asking for the public's help in identifying a man who robbed the Sherwin-Williams paint store located in the 1500 Block of N. Pacific Highway at gunpoint.

Nobody was hurt during the incident on the afternoon of July 6, and the suspect got away with an undisclosed amount of cash.
