Marion County Fair Begins Today in Salem

This year's feature concert is on Friday night with the country trio The Henningsens.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Marion County Fair One of the oldest county fair's in Oregon starts today in Salem.

Besides great food booths, carnival rides, and 4-H exhibits, this year there will be the Barnyard Splash and Dash 3K and 5K fun run which features various water, mist and foam features on a closed course.

Man Tries to Super Kick Police Horse in Oregon

The jumping karate kick didn't even phase, or hurt the horse, who police say outweighs the suspect by some 1,000 pounds.

Mounted Patrol Units were on patrol in Portland's Old Town district near northwest 6th Avenue and northwest Hoyt Street, which is just in front of the Greyhound Bus Terminal, and stopped to speak with a group of people.

Body of Missing Keizer Man Found Near Albany

Robert Knupp worked for 17 years for Garten Services, Inc. in Salem as a janitor.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Robert Allen Knupp The body of a missing Keizer man was found Wednesday morning in a field near Talbot, Ore. about 17 miles east of Salem.

Oregon State Police Criminal Investigations Division, with the assistance of Marion County Sheriff's Office, Keizer Police Department, and Marion County District Attorney's Office, are investigating the manner and cause of death of 54-year-old Robert Allen Knupp.

Israeli Bombing Kills at Least 72, Including Gaza TV Staffer

(GAZA, Palestine) - Noor Harazeen On the second day of the Israeli operation, "Protective Edge", at least 72 people have been killed and hundreds more injured by the bombing of their homes and communities.

Israeli occupation warplanes attacked a home in Al-Maghazi camp, killing a woman and 3 children, bringing up the death toll in Gaza to 40 people. An estimated 280 injuries were reported.

New Fire Restrictions in Western Oregon Begin on Friday

Human activities continue to be the top cause of forest fires in Oregon.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon forest fire Mark your calendars now, because beginning on Friday the Oregon Department of Forestry is increasing restrictions on forest activities due to the rising fire danger in Western Oregon forest lands.

The "Regulated Use" closure extends restrictions and preventative measures to the public on all private and Bureau of Land Management forest lands in Benton, Lincoln, Polk and southern Yamhill counties.

Oregon Natural Gas Prices to Climb This Fall

Pressure is being put on natural gas prices by an extremely cold winter that has depleted reserves.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Oregon Natural Gas Natural gas prices throughout Oregon are likely headed higher this fall according to officials with state's three regulated natural gas providers.

NW Natural expects their increase in middle single digits. Avista Utilities predicts an increase of 8 to 10 percent. And Cascade Natural Gas said it should be in the same range as the others.

Salem Union Gospel Mission Store Damaged by Three-Alarm Fire

Fire damage to the structure is estimated at $100,000 to $200,000 and it is anticipated that the main sales area of the building will reopen within the next few days.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Salem Union Gospel Mission Fire At approximately 3:10 a.m. Wednesday morning, fire crews from the Salem Fire Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Commercial Street NE in Salem, for a commercial structure fire.

The call was reported via 911 by a railroad train engineer who noticed flames showing on the west side of the business.

Oregon, Salem Gas Prices Should Begin to Move Downward

Four states continue to be in the $4-per-gallon club: Hawaii ($4.33), Alaska ($4.22), California ($4.14) and Washington State ($4.01). Oregon has the fifth highest gas prices in the country at $3.98.

(PORTLAND, Ore. ) - Oregon Gas Prices Crude oil and wholesale gasoline prices are ticking down, but drivers across the country continue to pay the highest prices for gas since 2008.

Oregon’s average is holding steady at $3.981. In Salem, the average price on Wednesday was $ 3.96, the same average price as one week ago.

Diesel prices are holding steady or ticking down in most markets. Oregon’s average slips a penny to $3.97.
