1 in 10 Adults Die Due to Excessive Alcohol Use

Excessive drinking includes binge drinking -- 4 or more drinks on an occasion for women -- 5 or more drinks on an occasion for men.

(WASHINGTON, D.C. ) - Excessive Alcohol Use Excessive alcohol use accounts for one in 10 deaths among working-age adults ages 20-64 years in the United States, according to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention published Friday in Preventing Chronic Disease.

Excessive alcohol use led to approximately 88,000 deaths per year from 2006 to 2010, and shortened the lives of those who died by about 30 years.

Mexico Apologizes for Firing on U.S. Boarder Patrol Agents

The shots were fired at a Border Patrol vehicle.

(PHOENIX, Ariz. ) - Border Patrol Agents U.S. authorities are investigating after two shots were fired from a Mexican law enforcement helicopter when it crossed the border into Arizona, although no injuries or damage to U.S. property were reported, the U.S. Border Patrol said on Friday.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection said in a statement the incident took place early on Thursday at the Tohono O'odham Indian Nation reservation in southern Arizona.

In adopting a temporary rule, ODA is prohibiting the use of pesticide products containing the active ingredients dinotefuran and imidacloprid on linden trees or other species of Tilia.

(NEW DELHI ) - India Gas Explosion Fourteen people were killed and 20 injured on Friday in a blast and fire at a gas pipeline in Andhra Pradesh, again raising safety concerns over the country's energy projects.

The fire broke out on a stretch of pipeline running through the village of Nagaram, engulfing buildings and burning victims to death, according to TV news footage and eyewitness accounts.

That means Oregon voters in November 2014 can vote yes to regulate, legalize and tax marijuana. The campaign has finished collecting signatures. Anthony Johnson, Liz Kaufman and the campaign team turned in the signatures on a day that coincides with the 6-month anniversary of the start of regulated sales of marijuana in Colorado.

But when it is a 10 foot, red tail, boa constrictor it perks our attention. That is what brought us to 825 Treewood Lane SE in Salem. The owners of the snake say it has been missing for about four days and it may have slithered out a second story window.
