NW Natural Customers in Oregon to Receive Credit on June Bill

The credit is being given because of efficient pipeline capacity management and effective use of the company's underground natural gas storage facility in Mist, Oregon.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Something is better than nothing. NW Natural Gas Company announced on Tuesday that it will credit it’s customers in Oregon on their June bills.

The $11 million dollar credit is from storage credit, and this is the thirteenth straight year that NW Natural customers have received a credit on their gas bills.

Salem Authorities Searching for Armed Suspect

UPDATE: 3:50 p.m. We now have video from the scene from Salem-News.com's Jerry Freeman. Police are searching the area for 20-year-old, Sir Diamond Damien Gipson who is described as a black male, 5'10" tall and 150 lbs, and is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities

(SALEM, Ore. ) - This morning approximately 8:30 a.m., the Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance in the 4700 block of Lancaster Drive NE. After speaking with the victim and her child probable cause was developed to arrest the male suspect.

In 2012, 7 million metric tons of carbon pollution were emitted from power plants in Oregon - equal to the yearly pollution from over 1 million cars.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - asthma We know climate change will put vulnerable populations at greater risk – including the elderly, our kids, and people already suffering from burdensome allergies, asthma, and other illnesses.

According to the most recent estimates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 10.6 percent of Oregon’s adult population and 9.5 percent of children in the state suffer from asthma.

Oregon Governor Declares More Drought Emergencies

The Governor's drought declaration allows increased flexibility in how water is managed to ensure that limited supplies are used as efficiently as possible.

(SALEM, Ore. ) - Kitzhaber Oregon Governor Kitzhaber has declared drought emergencies in Grant, Josephine, and Wheeler counties. Commissioners from the respective counties requested emergency declarations this spring, and the Governor issued the declarations on May 29, 2014.

The State Drought Council considered each county's request by weighing current water conditions, future climatic forecasts, and agricultural impacts.

Police Effort to Combat Underage Drinking Near Scotts Mills a Success

Several subjects were cited for offenses ranging from possession of a controlled substance, open container, camping in a closed area and littering.
