Community Members Say Officer Bob Owings is a Hazard for Salem Residents

Salem-News.com made an effort to reach the chief of Salem Police for an interview. Salem Police Lt. Dave Okada says the chief declined the opportunity as there is an investigation into the officer's actions.

(SALEM) - Salem Police Officer Bob Owings has a temper. We all saw the video last week of Owings tasering a young man with Asperger's Syndrome, it wasn't cool.

Owings has been making a name for himself on the Salem downtown beat, the taser incident is just the latest bout of reported violence from this man who could potentially target anyone he doesn't like.

Head of OSP Office of Professional Standards Placed on Administrative Leave Pending Criminal Investigation

The reports of that investigation are now being reviewed for possible criminal charges by Senior Deputy District Attorney George Eder of the Linn County District Attorney's Office.

(SALEM) - Oregon State Police has placed the head of the Department's Office of Professional Standards on administrative leave while a criminal investigation is being conducted.

Captain Jeff Lanz, age 39, assigned to the agency headquarters in Salem, was placed on administrative leave April 29, 2014, after a criminal investigation was begun. An OSP major from outside the Salem area was assigned to conduct the investigation.

Linn Deputies Find Body in Pond

The body, a white male adult, has not been positively identified. Sheriff Riley advises that the investigation is continuing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office received a call today, May 7, 2014, at 11:56 a.m. reporting a body was face down in a pond located in the 25000 block of Crescent Hill Road which is approximately 7 miles south of Sweet Home.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - A recent expose’ of at least 40 medical malpractice deaths at the Phoenix Arizona VA hospital brings to the forefront the fact that VA medical care is more dangerous than combat itself.

My first article about this subject was published on Salem-News.com Feb 26, 2009, “VA Malpractice with Veterans and President Obama”, with the hope of alerting whoever might be in charge, but nothing appears to have happened except for many more expose’s and articles about the obscene reports of millions in financial payouts such as the recent report from the Dayton, Ohio Daily News which posted “VA Malpractice payouts hits a 10-year high”.
