Devastating Impact of Congressman Walden`s Shutdown Becomes Clear - With No Guarantees He Won`t Do It Again
Salem-News.com
The extent of the wreckage Congressman Walden caused is now becoming clear...
(WASHINGTON, DC) -
As Congressman Greg Walden heads home for vacation, the impact of his reckless priorities on middle class families are becoming more clear – and Congressman Walden refuses to guarantee House Republicans won’t do it all again.
With only 16 working days left in Congress in 2013, Congressman Walden and his House Republicans show no signs of focusing on putting Americans back to work, improving the Affordable Care Act, ending workplace discrimination, advancing bipartisan immigration reform or coming to a bipartisan agreement on a balanced approach to the budget – setting the country up for yet another display of reckless brinksmanship after the holidays.

The Jewish Paradox Arising from The Curse of Zionism
Alan Hart Salem-News.com
The world always has been anti-Semitic (meaning anti-Jew because Arabs are Semites, too) and always will be.
(LONDON) -
I was inspired (perhaps I should say provoked) to write this piece by something U.S. Vice-President Joe Biden said in his speech to the recent J Street National Conference in Washington DC.
He recalled visiting Golda Meir when she was Israel’s prime minister and he was a junior senator. Her parting words to him were, he said, these: “We Jews have a secret weapon in our conflict with the Arabs: We have no place else to go.”

Like Balachandran, Isaipriya Awakens Human Conscience - Is it True or False
Visvanathan Sivam for Salem-News.com
Even the Tamil minister of Sri Lanka's ruling Rajapaksa regime has raised his voice for an independent investigation of the murder.
(MELBOURNE) -
The death of Prabhakaran's son provoked the Tamil Nadu students demonstration into the streets. At one point nearly a million students were on the road. Similarly, however crude and suppressed human conscience is, it is bound to respond in one form or the other.
The way Isaipriya died has shocked and rock the Tamil in the world. Many proclaim only animals can do such a thing; even animals have occasionally shown love and compassion to fellow animals, In this case the milk of human kindness has virtually dried up and these Sinhalese soldiers behave like brutes.

Marijuana Patients and the Mexican Mafia: Both Ignore US Laws
Dr. Phillip Leveque Professor of Pharmacology Salem-News.com
The laws encourage the Mexican mafia.
(PORTLAND, OR) -
Every time I read the Oregonian about marijuana, I shudder. Can't they write something positive with Oregon having the best run program in the country with dispensaries, cannabis clubs and all!
The Oregonian's recent diatribe November 3, 2013, about closing current marijuana stores, is titled City's Buck State on Retail Pot Shops. I have written several articles about marijuana being the only medicine which causes mental distress and paranoia in non-users. Just the word marijuana seems to put them in a cataleptic type state with obsessive/compulsive actions going on currently.

How to Make Enemies around the World in Two Easy Lessons
Joe Clifford Salem-News.com
One has to wonder if US policy makers are really that stupid...
(JAMESTOWN, RI) -
Sometimes the policy of my country sickens me. Take Egypt for example. A democratic election, was held, and by a narrow victory Mr. Morsi was elected President.
He won a majority of the public vote, but he was the leader of the “Muslim Brotherhood” party, and so immediately US mainstream media did not like him, despite the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood party of Egypt is a very moderate party, and despite the fact their party prevailed in a democratic election.

Commentary on Senator Feinstein`s Defense of NSA Surveillance
Ralph E. Stone Salem-News.com
Feinstein says the erosion of public confidence in our intelligence community can be laid at the feet of whistle blower Edward Snowden.
(SAN FRANCISCO) -
Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) recently wrote an Op-Ed piece, "NSA's call-records program is prudence -- not prying," that appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle defending the National Security Agency's programs.
In her Op-Ed, Senator Feinstein disingenuously assures us that the NSA does not conduct surveillance, but rather it merely collects information contained on the average telephone bill...

C-130A and P-3A, former military aircraft, were used to transport weapons to Central America and drugs into the U.S. to support the Contra War.
(IRVINE Tico Times) -
Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, a DEA agent and former U.S. Marine, was killed in Mexico in 1985 because he was a threat to disclose illegal narcotrafficking activity supported by the CIA to fund the Contra War.
Six year later, on Jan. 22, 1991, Col. James E. Sabow was murdered at U.S. Marine Corps Air Station El Toro, California, because he was about to blow the whistle on the illegal narcotrafficking of cocaine into the United States on CIA proprietary airlines.

Do Peace Talks Point to a Carthagenian Peace?
Dr. James M. Wall Salem-News.com
In August of this year, I suggested in Wall Writings that we study the ominous signs that indicate Israel seeks neither fairness nor justice in its dealings with its neighbors in the Middle East region.

On December 24, 2009, the Israeli oil exploration company Givot Olam, posted two media announcements a few hours apart.
Givot Olam’s first announcement revealed that “significant quantities” of oil had been found in the mud of Meged 5, a drill site close to the Palestinian village of Rantis, north west of Ramallah.

In the sombre wars of modern democracy there is little place for chivalry. - Winston Churchill, on Field Marshal Erwin Rommel
(DAYTONA BEACH) -
This day we used to remember as Armistice Day, a day that can be celebrated by hawk and dove alike.
The subject at hand is the incredible heroism of some guys - Canadians and Germans - who gave everything simply because it was asked of them.
Whether they understood it or not.

Our problems must be dealt with through partnership; progress must be shared." - Barack Hussein Obama, President of the United States of America in his speech at Cairo University in 2009

"...No single speech can eradicate years of mistrust, nor can I answer in the time that I have all the complex questions that brought us to this point.
But I am convinced that in order to move forward, we must say openly the things we hold in our hearts, and that too often are said only behind closed doors...
