Oregon Reports 5 Deaths and 763 New COVID-19 Cases

As of today, 1,353,250 Oregonians have completed a COVID-19 vaccine series.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 Oregon Health Authority has identified 611 COVID-19 vaccine breakthrough cases through May 3, including eight deaths.

The number of vaccine breakthrough cases identified in Oregon remains very small when compared to the more than 1.3 million people who have completed their vaccine series against COVID-19.

WWII Airman Turgeon Accounted For After 78 Years

Turgeon will be buried in Shoreline, Washington. His remains will arrive May 14th via Sea-Tac Airport.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Alfred F. Turgeon On Aug. 1, 1943, the B-24 Liberator aircraft on which Turgeon was serving as a radio operator crashed as a result of enemy anti-aircraft fire during Operation TIDAL WAVE, the largest bombing mission against the oil fields and refineries at Ploiesti, north of Bucharest, Romania.

His remains were not identified following the war.

Scio Man Killed in Head-On Motorcycle Crash

Motorcycle crashes involving another motor vehicle continue to account for nearly half of all motorcyclist fatalities in the United States.

(TURNER, Ore.) - fatal motorcycle Police say a green Honda Accord was traveling northbound on Turner Road when it went into the oncoming lane, striking the motorcyclist, 66-year old Wayne Laird, of Scio. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Honda Accord was uninjured.

Oregon Reports One COVID-19 Death, 808 New Cases

An average of 31,644 vaccines are being given per day in Oregon.

(PORTLAND, Ore.) - COVID-19 There is one new COVID-19 related death in Oregon, raising the state’s death toll to 2,509, and 808 new confirmed and presumptive cases of COVID-19 as of 12:01 a.m. today, bringing the state total to 188,417.

To date, 2,062,125 doses of Pfizer, 1,680,800 doses of Moderna and 241,900 doses of Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccines have been delivered to sites across Oregon.
