(HUBBARD, Ore.) - Marion County Sheriff's Office detectives have been called in to assist with the investigation of a fatal hit & run pedestrian collision that occurred Saturday night, 3/4 of a mile south of Hubbard.

Deputies Ryan Clarke and Tom Croft were called to the scene in the 17000 block of Front Street NE at 8:59 p.m., according to Don Thomson with the Marion County Sheriff's Office.

"A male victim was found in the field at the edge of the roadway. He had died from his injuries. Deputies identified him as Freddie Foster, 29, of Hubbard."

Thomson says Mr. Foster was apparently walking south along Front Street when he was struck. The driver left the scene without stopping or calling for medical assistance.

"The Marion County Sheriff's Office Crash Team also responded to conduct a forensic reconstruction of the accident. The only description available on the suspect vehicle is that it was a white van."

Mr. Foster's family was notified of his death by Chaplain Todd Pynch of Crisis Chaplaincy Services.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to call the Sheriff's Office Tip Line: 503.540-8079.
