6 Years Later, Fugitive Sought in Fatal Crash That Killed Marion County Deputy Still Not Located

Alfredo De Jesus Ascencio has been sought by police since he was indicted August 3, 2007 by a Marion County Grand Jury on two counts of Criminally Negligent Homicide.

(SALEM OR) - Suspect Alfredo De Jesus Ascencio - wanted for Marion County deputy homicide Sunday, June 16, is the sixth anniversary of the death of Marion County Deputy Kelly Fredinburg who was killed in a late night traffic crash involving another vehicle on Highway 99E north of Gervais.

The driver of the other involving vehicle, Alfredo De Jesus Ascencio, is still a fugitive wanted for two counts of Criminally Negligent Homicide for causing the death his 19-year old passenger and Deputy Fredinburg.

Inmate Charged in Stabbing Death of Another Inmate

The victim was serving a 30 day sentence for Contempt of Court.

(SALEM OR) - Suspect, 42-year old David Ray Bartol The victim inmate stabbing victim in the June 4th assault that occurred in the Marion County Jail died from his injuries at about 8:45 p.m., Sunday night.

A press release issued by the Marion County Sheriff's Office indicates that the victim, 33-year old Gavin Lee Siscel, was only serving 30 days on a contempt of court charge.

Marion County Inmate Hospitalized After Assault

Officials at this point are withholding the names of the inmates, and they will not elaborate at this time as to where the victim was stabbed.

(SALEM) - Marion County Jail in Salem One inmate is hospitalized and another is being questioned following an assault that took place in the Marion County Jail yesterday afternoon.

Marion County detectives say they are continuing their investigation into the assault which occurred at about 2:00 p.m. The victim inmate was transported by helicopter to the Oregon Health and Science University Hospital in Portland.

(KEISER, OR) - Shooting scene, Salem, Oregon 4-26-13 Keizer Police Department are the lead investigative agency in the investigation of the deputy involved shooting that occurred Friday in southeast Salem.

The incident occurred along the east shoulder of Sunnyside Road SE just north of the intersection of the Illahee. crossing overpass at Interstate 5.

Second Shooting This Week for Marion County Deputies

The names of the deputies and the man the shot have not yet been released.

(SALEM) - Shooting happened on the Illahee Bridge A man was shot by deputies this morning south of Salem in Turner, Oregon. A spokesman for Marion County called the injuries non-life threatening.

According to initial reports, it began when a man was observed sitting in a red Chevy Nova on the Illahee Bridge near Enchanted Forest. The man was shot shortly after being confronted by deputies.

Marion County Man Strikes Power Pole, Dies in Crash

Jacob Abbas was the sole occupant of the car and died at the scene from his injuries.

(SALEM) - Jacob Abbas died in a crash early this morning A 26-year old Marion County resident died in a single car crash on Talbot Road SE in Jefferson early this morning.

Marion County deputies were called to the crash at 12:29 a.m. Sergeant Todd Moquin was the first law enforcement officer to arrive at the scene, however another local man had already taken the pulse of the deceased.

Driver of `Lookalike` Police Car Arrested and Cited for Numerous Traffic Violations

Deputies found no evidence that Winfrey was attempting to pull over cars to contact drivers and falsely represent himself as a police officer.

(SALEM) - James Winfrey A 27-year old Washington resident was arrested and released on a citation after deputies caught him driving recklessly on Interstate 5 Saturday morning.

Around 9:24 a.m., a deputy spotted a car traveling at a high rate of speed, with white and amber flashing lights in the front windshield, and flashing blue lights in the grill.
