(SALEM, Ore.) - We're already working our way through 2016. It's time to put a stop on your laziness, get up and renovate your house! If you're thinking it's too late for some much needed renovation, then you're wrong. It's never too late to choose change, even if it happens later than you'd hoped. Now's the time!

Now that you've had the pep talk on the importance of renovating your home, it's time to think about the other urgent problem: your budget. How will you start renovating your home if you have no money?

Renovating on a shoe-string budget shouldn't be a problem. There are ways in which you can still make a change on your home without drilling a hole on your wallet.

Just take a pause and read the following guide:

  • Make a list

Before you start renovating, sit down and make a list of the things that you have to change in your house. Then categorize them in order of importance. Those who are the most urgent are the ones that you have to finish first while those are not should wait. If you only have budget for a single project then do that first - you don't have to renovate all at once, after all.

  • Budget and canvass

Create a budget for your renovation project. Spare some amount from your daily budget that is only allotted for those projects. Visit home appliance centers during your free time and try to canvass the materials that you need so that when shopping day comes, you'll be prepared.

  • Target clearance/sales

Check your local mall's website to see if they are offering sales or clearances on home materials in the near future. Do your home shopping spree on that exact date. You'll definitely feel proud of yourself once you buy a mosaic tile half its price.

  • Choose discontinued appliances

Here's a tip if you want a new appliance for your home renovation: ask the manager of your local home depot if they have a list of discontinued items. Discontinued items are much cheaper than those who are all in range and still works perfectly well.

  • Opt for personal loans

Fortunately, banks offer personal loans for home renovations. To see which offers fit you best, go to ecomparemo.com. This website will compare personal loans offered by different banks, so you'll definitely know which one is to choose.

  • Reuse and Recycle

Hit recycling centers or bargain stores. These type of stores not only offer home decor and appliances in cheap price - they're also filled with items that are vintage and you haven't seen anywhere else.

  • Ask for someone's help

Renovating can be really stressful, especially if you really want to finish a project. Add to that is the shoe-string budget that you have to use. The only way that you can survive is through not doing it alone. Ask your friend's help in doing all the gritty part of renovation. This can help you put your mind away from the stresses of renovation and treat it as a fun bonding experience.
