Statement from Chris W. Cox on U.S. Senate Defeat of Manchin-Toomey-Schumer Amendment

We are grateful for the hard work and leadership of those Senators who chose to pursue meaningful solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems.

(WASHINGTON DC) - Today, the misguided Manchin-Toomey-Schumer proposal failed in the U.S. Senate. This amendment would have criminalized certain private transfers of firearms between honest citizens, requiring lifelong friends, neighbors and some family members to get federal government permission to exercise a fundamental right or face prosecution.

As we have noted previously, expanding background checks, at gun shows or elsewhere, will not reduce violent crime or keep our kids safe in their schools.

The NRA will continue to work with Republicans and Democrats who are committed to protecting our children in schools, prosecuting violent criminals to the fullest extent of the law, and fixing our broken mental health system.

We are grateful for the hard work and leadership of those Senators who chose to pursue meaningful solutions to our nation’s most pressing problems.

This bill failed because OBama and hls toadies could not say why his hometown Chicago had a high murder rate with more intense gun control laws. MORONS wanted it to pass because they are morons.

Unfortunately, until members of Congress are penalized at election-time for being toadies to the NRA, there will probably be no meaningful gun control legislation passed by Congress.

Imagine being so dimwitted that you consider being unable to sell a gun to your neighbor "a Clear erosion of our 2nd Amendment," even mentionable in the same breath with the killing of children. Signed, a veteran of 84 for common sense solutions. Nothing like 20 dead kids because of a moron with an assault weapon to monger a little fear.

Bill Arnett, you're a Canadian, right? In regards to laughing stock of the world for Canadians made sense until Harper was elected. Now that low populated dependent is on the right track. They may even become independent of us someday. Just look at their import needs from us pretty well shows how their very existence is because of us. So our well-armed and law-abiding population helps them to be even more secure. You are very welcome Canadians. Come on down and vote in our elections, we'll even put the ballots in English for you, instead of all the other languages we have. Wonder why they are not all in English? Seems that when one gets their citizenship the test is in English. Ummmm. The government wouldn't be misinforming us would they? So since very few people think the government can do a better job than the private sector, why believe they care about the Bill of Rights if it represents obstacles to it's agenda? The left will never give up in their attempts to destroy our way of life, so we very limited choices on dealing with them. Any ideas how?

I want to applaud the brave Democrats who elected to vote for themselves and their conscience and defected the party ranks to vote no the the Manchin-Toomey-Schumer proposal. This bill as presented represented a CLEAR erosion of our 2nd Admentment Rights and needs modification to warrent their support. Signed, Age 69 and a Veteran for common sense solutions not fear mongering.

This was a bad bill, and was essentially set-up to fail in the House if it made it through the Senate, then, if passed, the leftist media would have demonized House members who ash-canned it. People everything between now and November 2014 is about that election. Obama's regime is not focused on doing what is helpful to America, but for their own agenda. When Obama loses the senate in 2014 he will attempt to rule by executive order, maybe even before depending on polls, he will fail. The Marxist period has come to it's final stage, and then we will track them down and remove them from despoiling life on Earth in a peaceful law-abiding way. Maybe re-education camps, work farms, etc.?

I can understand the Republican Senators and Congressmen who value being juiced by the NRA above their constituents, common sense and the lives of the innocent. What I can't understand is the idiot nonsense of their followers - like the cretin who wrote this. Unfortunately, about 40% of Americans appear to be this simple-minded. That's why we're the laughing stock of the world.
