Missing Alzheimer Patient LocatedSalem-News.comThe man was located after he hitched a ride to California.
(SALEM, Ore.) - The Marion County Sheriff's Office has been notified that 68-year old William Mefford has been located in Cottonwood California. According to family members who are currently with Mr. Mefford in California, Mr. Mefford hitchhiked from Salem to Cottonwood California where he grew up. Mr. Mefford was described as in good health when his family met up with him. ---------------------------------------------------------- The Marion County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's help in locating an Alzheimer patient who was reported missing from an assisted living center in the 4400 block of Lancaster Drive NE. Undersheriff Jason Myers says the patient was last seen at the facility at 9:00 AM this morning. The Alzheimer patient's name is 68-year old William Mefford. Myers says Mr. Mefford is described as a white male, 5'8", with gray receding hair. He was last seen wearing a yellow/green plaid short sleeve shirt, tan pants, and New Balance white tennis shoes with "Jesus & save" written on the toes. Mr. Mefford wears prescription glasses. Members of Mr. Mefford's family have been contacted and indicate that he may try to hitch hike to California. Anyone with information on Mr. Mefford's whereabouts is asked to call the Marion County Sheriff's Office at (503) 588-5032. Source: Marion County Sheriff's Office
