(SALEM, Ore. ) - A 33-year old Salem man was arrested after release from a Salem hospital following Tuesday night's attempt to elude and injury crash in SE Salem.

At approximately 11:17 p.m. an OSP trooper attempted to stop a Cadillac CTS passenger car for traveling 82 mph in a 60 mph speed zone on Interstate 5. The vehicle exited off the freeway onto Mission Street and attempted to elude the trooper recklessly northbound on Lancaster Drive SE.

After turning east onto Rickey Street SE, the trooper terminated his pursuit of the vehicle near Macleay Road SE and Connecticut Street SE.

Approximately ten seconds after losing sight of the vehicle, the trooper overheard Marion County deputies report a traffic crash in the vicinity of Macleay Road SE and Jenah Street SE where deputies were parked on an unrelated call.

The trooper arrived on scene and observed the Cadillac on its top in the ditch on the south side of Macleay Road SE with a male and female injured inside.

The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle after seeing the parked patrol cars. After hitting the car's brakes, the Cadillac entered a deep ditch and rolled onto its top.

Marion County Fire District #1 personnel responded to the scene and extricated the driver, 33-year-old Brian Wilson, and passenger 30-year-old Perla Gomez Lazo, from Salem.

Both occupants were transported to Salem Hospital with minor injuries.

After treatment at the hospital, Wilson was arrested by OSP troopers on charges related to the attempt to elude and crash, as well as two outstanding warrants for Parole Violation and Unauthorized Departure.

Wilson was lodged in the Marion County Jail on the two warrants and the following charges: Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle; Reckless Driving; Recklessly Endangering Another Person; Assault in the Fourth Degree; Misdemeanor Driving While Suspended.

Marion County Sheriff's Office conducted the crash investigation and Salem Police Department assisted at the scene.

No other vehicles were struck by the Cadillac during the incident and crash.

The female passenger was not arrested.
