(SALEM) - The Hallie Ford Museum of Art at Willamette University will host an illustrated slide lecture and four-part film series in conjunction with its current exhibition, The James M. Floyd Memorial: An Installation by Nancy Floyd, which is on display until Oct. 21st in the Study Gallery.

Mixed media artist Nancy Floyd will discuss her work from the past 20 years, including the 1986 creation of The James M. Floyd Memorial and its relation to her most recent work, from 5:00 to 6:00 PM Sept. 15th in the museum’s Roger Hull Lecture Hall.

The exhibition is an installation of items dedicated to Floyd’s brother Jim, who was killed in 1969 in the Vietnam War. Floyd is an associate professor in the School of Art and Design at Georgia State University in Atlanta. Admission to the lecture is free.

In addition, a four-part film series on the Vietnam War and its aftermath will be presented. Films will be shown from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Sept. 14th and 28 and Oct. 5th and 19th in the Roger Hull Lecture Hall. Admission to the film series is free.

Vietnam: On the Frontlines tells the story of the Vietnam War as it happened, creating a personal and powerful portrait of the longest conflict in which America has ever been involved.

Each one-hour segment focuses on a pivotal chapter of the conflict, from President Lyndon Johnson’s decision to send in the troops to the final helicopter flight from the roof of the U.S. Embassy.

The James M. Floyd Memorial: An Installation by Nancy Floyd has been supported in part by grants from the City of Salem’s Transient Occupancy Tax Funds and the Oregon Arts Commission.
