Allegations Into Organ Trafficking Must be Investigated

The Swedish newspaper is standing by the story on the "macabre business".

Prof. Yehuda Hiss, the director of the Institute of Forensic Medicine at Abu Kabir, under a plea bargain admitted to removing of body parts from 125 deceased people. It doesn't appear to have ended with his arrest.

(PALOS HILLS, Ill.) - A recent article raising questions whether the Israeli Defense Forces kidnapped, killed and culled organs from young Palestinian men caused a firestorm of controversy that ultimately pitted Israeli Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu against the Swedish government.

Yet despite the controversy and the criticism heaped upon Swedish reporter Donald Boström, the American Muslims for Palestine (AMP) believes the questions the article raises must be investigated.

The article was published in the Swedish tabloid the Aftonbladet, the largest daily in the Nordic countries. It recounted rampant rumors that the IDF harvested organs from Palestinians.

The article also told the tale of young Bilal Ahmed Ghanim, 19, who was shot by IDF soldiers in 1992. The soldiers took him away only to return his body five days later in a “shroud of secrecy,” Boström writes. The soldiers stood guard while relatives dug the young man’s grave.

Only when the hospital sheets wrapping the body came unwound, was Boström able to snap a picture of Bilal’s torso, which had been cut from his groin to his chin and then sewn up haphazardly.

Boström linked the organ-theft rumors and the July 23 arrest in New Jersey of Levy Izhak Rosenbaum, who was charged with selling kidneys harvested in Israel to Americans. Rosenbaum was among 44 people – including elected officials and rabbis – who were arrested in a money laundering and corruption sting.

Since the article appeared, Boström has received numerous death threats, according to the Aftonbladet. Netanyahu is pressuring the Swedish government to condemn the newspaper and Boström.

The Swedish government refuses to interfere with the freedom of the press, and the newspaper is standing by the story. Its editor Jan Helin told Haaretz recently that the newspaper is calling for an investigation into the allegations.

Boström writes: “We know that Israel has a great need for organs, that there is a vast and illegal trade of organs which has been running for many years now, that the authorities are aware of it and that doctors in managing positions at the big hospitals participate, as well as civil servants at various levels.

We also know that young Palestinian men disappeared, that they were brought back after five days, at night, under tremendous secrecy, stitched back together after having been cut from abdomen to chin.

“It’s time to bring clarity to this macabre business, to shed light on what is going on and what has taken place in the territories occupied by Israel since the Intifada began.”

The original Swedish article can be found here aftonbladet.se/kultur/article5652583.ab, and an English translation is here palestinechronicle.com/view_article_details.php?id=15377

AMP calls on officials at the U.S. State Department, U.S. Special Envoy to the Middle East George Mitchell and the United Nations to launch an immediate investigation into Israeli culpability in the New Jersey Rabbis case and if there are any links to the questions Boström’s article raises concerning illegally harvesting Palestinian organs.

China is a brutal dictatorship with all the bad aspects of capitalism , communism and dictatorship combined , but not the chinese people who yearn for freedom . I was all for opening trade with China but not giving the country away . The US has over a 260 Billion yearly deficit to China , Israel has about a 3.5 billion to china . The Israeli reaction to this story has only given it legs thru out Europe and the Arab world . This story should have been investigated and proven false or true . By attacking the Swedish government and its people instead of factually addressing the report only makes maters worse . Boycotting furniture makers is the same tactic used by those who opposed the danish cartoon . I am very critical of the US government when they take action with my tax dollars that I do not approve of . All decedents of holocaust victims should make it a special point their own government does not go into a sectarian racist direction as Germany did in the 1930-40s . As a student of history I have watched many news reels film of ww2 from all sides and find it interesting how they all spun the information to control their populations into killing each other .

China just admitted that 65% of their transplanted organs come from executed prisoners. Where's the outrage there? And Johan, you need some education about Dr. Mengele's work - surgery without anesthesia, submersing inmates in ice water until they died to "research" hypothermia, attempts to change eye color by injecting childrens' eyes with chemicals, forced sterilization, limb amputations. He also put living inmates in ovens to find out how long it took for 1st, 2nd and 3rd degree burns to occur. He tested the strength of the human skull to determine how much force was needed to fracture it - all on living humans, of course. I recommend you read "Children of the Flames" by Lucette Matalon Lagnado and Shiela Cohn Dekel, to understand the scope of Mengele's work. As "the angel of death" Mengele selected Jews, gypsies and other "ethnically undesirable" people for either immediate extermination or forced labor. As a descendant of Holocaust survivors, your remark is deeply offensive. The IDF is brutal, but they are not Nazis. Get real, please. I don't know if the allegations are true. Neither do you. But, a story from 1992 leaves me dubious.

Israelis have been accused of not just trafficking, but of actually stealing organs for years, including those of the thousands of Palestinians it kills each year as part of its illegal occupation of Palestine, and given Israel's despicable past, I find the stories to be very credible. Hundreds of Palestinian children are murdered each year by the IDF; most by head shots or shots to the lower torso that allow their victims linger long enough to be scooped up and taken to Israeli hospitals to have their organs harvested before they die. An investigation into Israel's role in this Megeleian scheme should be started immediately.
