(SALEM) - Free help is now available through April 17th for taxpayers who need assistance preparing their 2006 income tax returns.

Representatives from Oregon Department of Revenue and AARP will staff Tax Aide sessions in Salem and Woodburn.

They will help prepare basic state and federal income tax returns for senior and low-income taxpayers.

The program's representatives are trained by qualified trainers with experience in federal and state tax law.

Returns with business income, rental income, or property sales do not qualify for this free tax service.

This year, most of the Tax Aide sessions will be held Saturdays at the Salem Public Library.

This is different from other years when the sessions were held throughout the city.

Two Saturday Tax Aide sessions also will be held in Woodburn.

Weekday sessions will be held at the Oregon Department of Revenue headquarters.

"This year, we're concentrating our services to just three locations, but we're expanding the number of Tax Aide representatives available at the library site," said co-coordinator Keith Shribbs, No appointment is necessary at any of the sites.
