Stayton Teen in Critical Condition After Late Night Crash

Deputies believe speed was the only contributing factor to this crash.

(STAYTON, Ore.) - A car crashed outside of Stayton about 1:30 a.m. on Fernridge Road SE and Siegmund Road SE.

When Deputies arrived they found a Nissan passenger car torn into two pieces.

The driver who was pinned inside of the vehicle was extricated by firefighters and transported immediately to Stayton Memorial Hospital and later flown to OHSU.

The 17-year old driver, of Stayton is in critical condition but expected to survive his injuries.

Deputies determined that the driver was on his way home from a gathering with friends when he left the roadway & struck a tree, which cut the car into two pieces.

Deputies believe speed was the only contributing factor to this crash and no citations have been issued.
