(GAZA) - As a result of the closure of the border crossings by the Israeli authorities, international media personnel continue to be excluded from the Gaza Strip, where the military operations are taking place.

Many western media reporters are covering events from the border, from where they can see the effects of the air strikes and the fighting from a distance.

The Foreign Press Association, which groups foreign journalists based in Israel, appealed to the Israeli supreme court on December 31st for 12 journalists to be allowed into the Gaza Strip when the borders crossings were opened to let humanitarian aid in.

The supreme court ruled in favour of the FPA request but the border has continued to be closed for the media.

The Israeli Defence Forces said it would not be able to keep the border crossings permanently open for security reasons, because the crossings could become targets for Hamas rockets.

The IDF and the FPA have also not yet agreed on the list of journalists who would be allowed into the Gaza Strip.

Several international news agencies nonetheless have personnel in the Gaza Strip. They include Reuters and AFP, which employ Palestinian reporters and photographers.

Several independent Palestinian news agencies such as Ramattan (ramattan.com/) and Ma’an (maannews.net/) are feeding news reports and video footage to the foreign media including the Qatar-based satellite TV station Al-Jazeera and the US television news network CNN.

For the time being, Reporters Without Borders is not aware of any casualties among the Palestinian journalists working in the Gaza Strip.

This has nothing to do with Isreal being "pure". This has everything to do with HAMAS being tyrannical savages, against everyone, including their own people. They've been conducting a war against ALL dissent, killing endlessly the ostensible "citizens" of the PA. But not a peep from you. For YEARS Israel has been the target of rocket and other attacks, DIRECTED AT CIVILIANS NOT THE MILITARY, and you can't bring yourself to even acknowledge it. But let Israel decide to root out the launchers of over 10,000 rocket attacks upon the civilian centers of Israel (schools, shopping areas, hospitals, etc) in the last 3 years. Not a word of criticism for the bloodthirsty killers known as HAMAS, but instead, explosion in anger when Israel finally acts to shut them down.

I'm not for the status quo. I'm for freeing the Palestinians from the brutal, murderous, tyrannical thugs of HAMAS, ENTIRELY.

You refuse to speak even a single critical word of one of the most evil and bloodthirsty gangs of thugs to rule a nation today (HAMAS), however. And then, pretend to wrap yourself in self righteous outrage when someone finally puts the bullies down after suffering their murderous outrages for years.

Oh, and yeah... Accusing me of being of bad morals and character is really a great defense of innaccurate and totally misleading storywriting... Readers of this story would definitely be believing a lie, if this was all the information they could get.

Tim King: I guess I just assume everyone is on the same page Harmuph; terrorism is a horrible thing and Hamas' utilization of it is no different.  I'm just not sure that Hamas are the only terrorists in the picture.  I'm not celebrating these guys, that's not the point.  I just can't believe how the western media paints Israel as this brother country when it is so ruthless from the very beginning and so many people lay dead and buried because of it.  For me, it is important to examine the history of what led to the current situation.  You, as I said before, really lay it on heavy here and you are not diplomatic about it, at least not often enough.  That is always going to bring a return volley and you know that.  Consider penning an article here and then you can be in my shoes.

Where is your demand to have journalists report the endless campaign of terror Hamas wages against the Palestinians?

Oh, wait. You like Hamas and don't want people to know they're a bunch of wildly fanatical killers bent on destruction and death.

Tim King: I just think that nations need to lead by example.  If you want to be snowed about the purity of Israel then go ahead.  I'm the kind of person who will stop and help someone; if I hear a scream I'm outside the door seeing if someone needs my help.  I hate bullies, wife beaters, and warmongers, and I can not dismiss the severety of Israel's military action and neither can most of the people in the world.  But having said that, just keep on believing your way because you are the status qou and speaking out about unjustice I suspect, just isn't in your blood.
