Newport Seafood and Wine Festival Happens February 24th - 26thStill Crabby After All These Years
(Newport) - Each February for nearly three decades, seafood and wine enthusiasts have gathered in Newport to enjoy the taste of the Northwest. This year marks the 29th consecutive year of the Newport Seafood & Wine Festival, to be held February 24th through the 26th. The event continues to be one of the largest of its kind in the United States. "We are excited to host new guests at this year's Festival, and to show them all of the things that make Newport and the Northwest a great place to visit," said Phil Hutchinson, Director of the Newport Chamber of Commerce. "At the same time, we welcome thousands of returning guests year after year, and we strive to make the experience new and fresh for them as well." Organizers say this year's Seafood and Wine Festival blends the old with the new, featuring favorite local wines and fresh seafood concoctions like shrimp bread, oyster shooters and crab cakes, along with new exotic dishes and amateur wines. Northwest artisans also will be represented, selling handcrafted jewelry, artwork, hand-thrown pottery, designer clothing and a variety of other arts and crafts. The event will be held in a new and larger facility adjacent to the Rogue Ales Brewery, 2320 OSU Drive, on the south end of Yaquina Bay Bridge in Newport. Admission hours are 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM Saturday and 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM Sunday. Admission is $9 Friday, $12 Saturday and $6 Sunday. Attendees must be 21 or older.
