Flooded Turner, Oregon Seeks Donations and AssistanceSalem-News.com
Families affected are in need of basic home building supplies and cash.
(TURNER) - The following message is from David Sawyer, Turner, Oregon's City Administrator. Located just a few miles away from Oregon's busy capitol city; picturesque, historic Turner, has been flooded to the gills with recent rains.
Many residents of this city were evacuated and their properties suffered major damage. Please do what you can to help, and if your organization joins this effort to help the residents of Turner, let us know and we'll cover your business's assistance efforts.
The flood is over. Turner is in the recovery phase of our damage.
We need help!
Families affected are in need of basic home building supplies. These basic supplies include: installation, drywall, flooring, carpeting, etc.
The city is also accepting cash donations.
The city is willing to match the first $10,000 dollars donated to help families that did not have flood insurance.
If you would like to help, please call City Hall (503) 743-2155.
Cash donation can also be in the form of check, debit or credit cards. The City of Turner would like to thank all the people that have helped and all that will continue to lend a hand.
You can also visit the group's facebook page, I just caught this note from Turner Police that seemed worthy of inclusion:
There are some rumors going around that the City's water is not safe to drink. This is NOT true!!! At NO time has the City's drinking water been contaminated. It is SAFE to drink. If at any time now or in the future this were to change, staff would go door to door throughout the entire City to notify everyone along with a press release to everysingle t.v. and radio station in the valley. Again, the City's water is OK to drink!
