Murdering Babies is 'Permissible' When They're Palestinian

Network news reports Israeli children’s deaths 14 times more than Palestinians.

(SACRAMENTO) - US media have been widely and repeatedly reporting on the awful March 11 murder of three small Israeli children and their parents. While no one yet knows who committed this act, reports presume that the murderers were Palestinian, and for this reason the incident is receiving major attention. Various heads of state, including President Obama, have condemned it.

Members of the Fogel family of Itamar
who were stabbed to death in their home

If it turns out that the murderer or murderers were Israeli, as some previously presumed “terrorists” have turned out to be, or a foreign worker who had previously threatened the family over unpaid wages, as some reports from the area suggest, it is likely that coverage of the incident will quickly vanish from U.S. headlines.

For now, however, American news reports continue to provide excruciating details about the atrocity. Given the amount of reportage, it is surprising how much significant information is omitted.

For example, none of these reports mention that the location of the murders, Itamar (near Nablus), is an illegal Jewish-only settlement on stolen Palestinian land in the midst of refugees whom Israel pushed off their ancestral land through massacres and ruthless military actions.

Nor do reports mention the frequency with which Israeli settlers beat, occasionally torture, and sometimes murder Palestinians of all ages, burn their crops, and hack down their groves of olive trees, the livelihood of many Palestinian villagers; hundreds, at least, of these trees, have been destroyed by rampaging Israeli settlers.

Religious extremism

Even lengthy articles on the tragic incident fail to mention the extremely relevant and chillingly ironic fact that Itamar was founded and is largely populated by fanatic Jewish extremists, many of whom believe that the killing of non-Jewish infants is religiously permitted, and sometimes mandated, as discussed in a best-selling book “The King’s Torah,” which was written by authors from the area and endorsed by numerous rabbis and religious schools (but opposed by most Israelis).

In their elaborate descriptions of the murder scene, U.S. articles neglect to mention that the building next door is the house of Chabad Lubavitch emissaries, a Hassidic movement in Orthodox Judaism, and features a photo of the late Lubavitcher Rebbe Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, known for his astoundingly supremacist teachings.

Schneerson is widely revered by such settlers (and his followers in the U.S.); many believed him to have been the messiah. In their book “Jewish Fundamentalism in Israel,” professors Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky quote Schneerson’s teachings about the differences between Jews and non-Jews:

“… we do not have a case of profound change in which a person is merely on a superior level. Rather, we have a case of ‘let us differentiate’ between totally different species. This is what needs to be said about the body: the body of a Jewish person is of a totally different quality from the body of [members] of all nations of the world...A non-Jew’s entire reality is only vanity…The entire creation [of a non-Jew] exists only for the sake of the Jews...”

Which children matter?

Finally, news reports on the abhorrent Itamar murders fail to mention the frequent, tragic, and equally abhorrent killing of massive numbers of Palestinian children by Israelis.

For example, the Los Angeles Times reported that the Itamar incident was “the deadliest such attack against Jewish settlers in the area since 2002,” but didn’t bother to report that there have been numerous deadly attacks on Palestinians in the area in the intervening years, that dozens of Palestinian minors have been killed, many more injured and maimed, and even more Palestinian mothers, fathers, and grandparents killed.

This viewpoint is typical of U.S. media. Statistical studies show that primetime network news shows report on Israeli children’s deaths at rates up to 14 times greater than they report on Palestinian children’s deaths; regional newspapers report Israeli deaths at even more disproportionate rates.

Palestinian deaths are therefore often virtually invisible to American news consumers, even though they occurred first and are far greater in number.

In the round of violence that began in fall 2000, over 90 Palestinian children were killed before a single Israeli child; in total, approximately 1,500 Palestinian children have been killed by Israelis, and approximately 130 Israeli children have been killed by Palestinians during this period.

The deaths at Itamar were tragic, as every Palestinian's
death has also been. Increasing numbers of Jewish people
are speaking out against the occupation- bravely.

Since American media, in stark contrast to coverage of the Itamar victims, so rarely report on Palestinian victims and their weeping families, or provide details of their grisly deaths, at the end of this article is a partial list of these young, largely disappeared victims.

While this very incomplete list does little to balance the moving, detailed reporting on Israeli children’s deaths found in U.S. news media, and completely ignores the even greater number of children grieving for parents killed by Israeli forces, publishing it here at least provides the names of Palestinian victims, a rarity in American media coverage.

A few years ago an Israeli army officer emptied, at close range, the entire magazine of his automatic rifle into a 13-year-old Palestinian girl. Afterward he said he would have done the same even if she had been three years old. Because so many of his underlings reported this particular incident, he was eventually tried in an Israeli military court – but on minor offenses, not murder. He was acquitted of all charges.

It is hard to imagine the feelings of Americans if these were our children and if we were suffering this degree of unbearable loss. The population in the Palestinian Territories is less than 1/90th the population of the U.S.; there is hardly a Palestinian family that has not experienced tragedy.

Because Israel partisans consistently screen out the mass of significant information on this issue, and other editors, perhaps through ignorance, negligence, and/or timidity, go along, Americans receive the kind of highly filtered, lying-through-omission “journalism” that is so effectively creating fear, hatred, and ignorance of Palestinians, Arabs, and Muslims – and that perpetuates the uniquely massive flow of American money to Israel, currently over $8 million per day. Israel, with a population of seven million, is reportedly about to ask for an additional $20 billion.

Regarding the as-yet unsolved murder of three children in Itamar, President Obama pronounced:

“There is no justification and there can be neither excuse nor forgiveness for the murder of children. I expect a similar condemnation, and I demand a similar condemnation, from the Palestinian Authority.”

Perhaps someday President Obama will have the integrity – and the courage – to make the same pronouncement about the murders of Palestinian children, and address it to the Israeli government.

A partial list of Palestinian Children Killed by Israelis

The following information is taken from http://www.rememberthesechildren.org/remember2000.html “Remember These Children,” [ which works to document all Israeli and Palestinian children who have been killed, in the belief, sadly not shared by the U.S. media, that all of these children matter.

In the list below, “IDF” stands for Israeli Defense Forces, an offensive, occupying force; “Incursion” refers to an invasion of Palestinian land by Israeli military forces.  To reiterate: this is a partial list of children mostly 13 and under of the approximately 1,500 Palestinian minors killed by Israeli forces in the past 11 years; during the same period Palestinians killed about 130 Israeli minors.

The "editor" wrote: "Editor: I could not agree more, however I don't know about beheading people, I know that Hamas recently discontinued the mental health program in Gaza, this is a terrible thing. There was also a protest a few months ago and Hamas cracked heads." What a charming attempt to excuse Hamas terrorizing their own people. The extra judicial executions by Hamas are well known, as is their penchant for throwing homosexuals off high rise building.

Alison Weir and her website were removed from the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, an umbrella organization of over 100 anti-Israel organizations, because of her over anti-semitism, which they felt tarred their reputation.

EDITOR: Yes, we know about that and it is unfortunate. We don't agree however, and in fact believe removing her was what tarred their reputation. Regardless, our quest for Palestinian freedom continues, and Alison's voice will continue to be heard in their defense.

Thanks, It's a tradgedy. The responsibility lies with Palestinian / Intefada terrorism. The reality is Israel is in a near war zone, with terrorists and missles being launched by Arabs. Sadly, there is a human cost, these children. Yasser Arafat was known to strategize about the Arab population being a threat to Israel. Missles are launced from hospitals and schools. Responsibility for these deaths goes to the Arab terror organizations such as Hamas, the PLO, Hezbollah and the bomb makers. So the Israelis put up walls and sniper towers to protect themselves...

Although this article saddens me, even more it makes me disgusted by Zionists and of course international and Jew-biased media, I thank you for it. Everyone on the planet knows what is really going on, we are not stupid (at least I hope so!) but sometimes (for all different reasons) we just want to forget it.

Funboy June 6, 2013 5:51 am (Pacific time)

Great article, but I don't understand why you personally respond to all those fucking you know whats. You are aware that, " They", pay people to go online and cause problems right? And, God forbid you get into the factual evidence of David Irving or Duke for that matter. Vet's unite.

Rebecca Olesen March 23, 2013 11:36 am (Pacific time)

I'll tell you which children DON'T matter, the children of Christians in GAZA, Syria, Iraq, Egypt, Pakistan, Nigeria, Sudan, Turkey, Chechnya, Thailand, Serbia and all of Europe, because nobody seems to give a damn how many of our children die at the hands of muslims. IF a single jew had crossed into palestinian territory and entered the home of a random muslim family, then slit the throats of a baby in his fathers arms, stabbed a toddler and 11 yr old boy to death (that particular image sickened me the most for some reason, maybe it is because of the small evidence that he struggled) THEN THAT story would be repeated probably MORE than this one. It is the singular hands on knife killing face to face with children that made this particular story receive more attention, not because the victims were jews. Does it make you feel any better to know that the persecution and murders of Christians in Gaza receives little to no media attention? At least they're higher up on the food chain than Christians, apparently. I wonder why Palestinians in particular (like jews, anyway) feel that their own personal tragedies should be considered more important than anyone else's? It does not arouse sympathy to know that muslims were given the task of caring for holy jewish/christians sites in palestinian territories and that their first act was to blow up the tomb of Joseph. Neither does it endear them to the Christian west to know that they target the Christian mayor of Bethlehem with assassination. As far as that goes, I don't even know why Palestine is complaining to Europe, the U.S. or ANY of the Western world and screaming at us for help, why aren't they getting help from their islamic 'brothers' the wealthy Saudi's? How is this MY problem? Right now MY problem is all the muslim immigrants in my small town and smaller neighborhood who are robbing old helpless people at gunpoint (no guns allowed in my country, but they sure seem to have plenty) robbing 10 year olds at knifepoint and raping 10 yr old girls in the bushes. They set trip wires neck high on bicycle paths. I can't even walk outside at night anymore. The self serve tanning business at the centrum had to close down due to SEXUAL harassment and girls get raped in restaurant bathrooms. I get called a whore on my way to the grocery story (I am a 50 year old, plain, woman who wears no makeup, but I am white and they assume Christian). I get screamed at, there is vandalism, burglaries, thefts, cars and schools are set on fire, daycare centers have the windows knocked out with rocks, gunshots are fired, it is a fucking nightmare. In case you are wondering, NO, this shit did not happen even 20 years ago before they came here. Children played freely, as women walked freely at night and used the toilet at a restaurant without being raped. There were NO gun crimes-NONE-now bullets are flying. Palestinians say they won't stop killing jews until they're all dead or gone, and that pretty much means this will never stop until somebody really gets wiped out. If Palestinians really wanted to stop this, all they have to do is lay down their arms, but they will never do that. Like I said, I have problems of my own, and I'm supposed to wring my hands because a story about a murdered jew family got more attention than all the dead palestinian babies? The whole world would be a better place if BOTH SIDES just wiped each other off the map.

I read the comments as well as see the ....what appears to be children that have been killed by Israel. Let's all get the facts of life straight: Religion is the help people and yes to bond people with similar beliefs. The ultimate belief is to be human and to help each other. With out help there would be no cures or treatmant for disease. I would like to see an Isreali or a Palestine refuse life saving treatment. I would like to point out that where were you....the non Jews during the Holocaust! Any death of peace loving people is devasting. There is no reason for war....period. Racism has no part in a developing world. While extremist do exist the vast majority of people care about each other. The problem is that it only takes one unchecked extremist to possible start a confrontation. The first step for Peace in the Middle East is for every on....and I mean every one to make the statement that Israel exists and is entitle to have a home land and to live in Peace. Israels actions can be some what controled by the U.S. If the World wants Peace then tNato and other country's need to stand together and not care about where they get their oil from! You wouldn't play politics with your childre, then why would you play politics with your childrens future? Politicians do not make good negotiators! Peace and RESPECT to ALL!....

Janete February 23, 2012 4:38 am (Pacific time)

I am from the USA, I know this is happening because I know people from Gaza and Palestine Honest, most of this is hidden from the American people by "Selective Journalism." How more heart breaking can this be? Why is this allowed to continue. God bless the children, the mothers and the fathers of these children. NONE of this should be happening? I still believe in my heart that the Gaza BELONGS to the Palestinians! Why is Israel allowed to bulldoze people out of their homes? No child should die, but all children, all people are God's creation, and NO man has preeminence over another's life, Jewish, Muslim, Palestinian, Christian, Buddhist, ALL are a part of God;s creation, we all have rights and why do we kill to steal another mans home, his land, take away his wife and children and that which doesn't belong to Israel because he believes he is better? This is a debacle created by some Idiopathic, sociopathic society or by a few very powerful humans. This all MUST end now! This brings pain to my heart and my soul and once again, makes me ashamed to be related to this creation, human, Human who apparently feels it is justifiable to kill the innocent. All of these men that have taken the life of these innocents will face a far greater injustice one day, I promise, the creator loves all of his creation. Absolutely shocking and heart breaking.......

i love this website.bout time i can get a new perspective on things.like the real conditions in gaza.but i still feel lack of true leader ship in gaza is a big part of the problem.and when your religion dictates beheadings you may have a problem.

Editor: I could not agree more, however I don't know about beheading people, I know that Hamas recently discontinued the mental health program in Gaza, this is a terrible thing.  There was also a protest a few months ago and Hamas cracked heads.  Every time religion is integrated into government, the odds for any humane treatment for people who are 'different' flies out the window.  So yes, this is a problem that resonates across the scale, all religious fanaticism ruins life for people of the 'wrong' faith, and Zionism and radical Islam are both damaging this human race.

when you fire rockets at another country than you bare the responsibility for any deaths or damage when a response is executed.

....I am poor and naked, but I am the chief of the nation. We do not want riches but we do want to train our children right. Riches would do us no good. We could not take them with us to the other world. We do not want riches. We want peace and love.

All birds, even those of the same species, are not alike, and it is the same with animals and with human beings. The reason WakanTanka does not make two birds, or animals, or human beings exactly alike is because each is placed here by WakanTanka to be an independent individuality and to rely upon itself. Thank you Alison for having the courage to travel and witness the troubles. The average American is brainwashed into thinking that Israel/USA = good Palestine/All Arabs = evil That much is obvious to me, but for these same people to view these horrific lists and pictures then describe it as a distortion of the truth is another thing altogether. My heart bleeds for the people of Palestine. I wish there was something I could do to help.

I don't think... December 28, 2011 7:36 pm (Pacific time)

you have the right to tell me how God feels about me. Really. I don't agree with this website, and I feel this website is showing an extremely biased viewpoint of the conflict in the middle east. Why don't you list the names and causes of death of the Iraeli children who have died from extremist actions? How about you list all the lives that have been lost due to terrorist attacks in other nations? People are trying to protect themselves from further deaths of innocent people in their country... that's why there is a blockade. People are trying to protect themselves... that's why they bomb sites that are known to shelter terrorists. Why do the terrorists hide in places so heavily populated with innocent civilians? So journalists can say, "Look at the IDF, bombing all those innocent people," when in reality, those terrorists are knowingly using those civilians as sheilds. I stand with Israel, now and forever. I'm sorry if you are offended or don't agree with that. But I stand regardless.

Editor: OK, you think certain people have more rights than others, that is your right to see things as you do.  It isn't me who is offended, it is the Palestinians who are suffering, and there should be no confusion over that.  I too want peace in Israel, I am not sure if you are here or there, but it is as I explained, an unfair system.  I hope you realize that standing for Israel means standing with Israel's apartheid system implemented in 1951 that calls for different rights and punishments for Jews and non-Jews, even Palestinian children can be arrested far younger than Israeli kids, don't try to justify that because it can not be justified.  Really, your words make me very sad and sorry that all of this has been allowed to take place.

Sir or maam, the Talmud is not the holy Word of God. The first five books of the Bible, the Torah, are what we should be quoting- not rabbinic teaching. Rabbinic teachings and the Talmud are merely interpretations or even addiions to the laws God gave the Isrealites. They are the laws of man, NOT God, and they should be treated as such.

extremely disturbed by this December 28, 2011 5:27 pm (Pacific time)

They didn't kick anyone off their land. The Israelites, I mean.

Editor: Yes they did and they continue to today.

The Palestinian people were nomadic at the time.

Editor: Only some, most lived in cities and villages that have all been stolen by Israel, everything was built by the Palestinians, the Israelis tore hundreds of villages down to erase their historic place in the world.

They had no "ancesteral" land.

Editor: They have had ancesteral land for hundreds, in some cases thousands of years, and a handful still do.  These are the land's original inhabitants, the indigenous people.

And the difference between the deaths of these two people group's children... there is no difference in them.

Editor: I could not agree more soundly with that, every single death is a tragedy because we are one thing, human beings.

It is tragic that any of them have died. But the parents... there are some differences there.

Editor Absolutely, one side is occupied and one side is the occupier:

Israeli parents don't strap bombs to themselves, and they don't tell their children that "God will reward them" for it either.

Editor: When people have had every last thing taken from them, every opportunity stolen or crushed, and they have lost a child or a parent to an act of aggression carried out for the sake of 'Israeli security' it leaves a hole inside of them, and the same is true the other way around.  No, Israeli parents don't strap bombs to their kids, they have them climb right into F-16's and murder children and families with depleted uranium and white phosphorus.  I see no difference except that the Israelis always strike without consideration of the civilian population of Gaza. Everything the Palestinians do is a desperate act of retribution and revenge.  Israel's violence is the fuel.

Jihadists hide and conduct battle in areas where children and women are prevalent.

Editor: Israel, during 'cast lead' struck more than 50 hospitals and 200 schools including the UN school and compound.  Of course they first struck the police graduation ceremony.  Just like during the Tamil Genocide in Sri Lanka two years ago, civilians were told to seek refuge in a given area and then bombs landed right on top of their heads.  Look up the Samouni family in Gaza, read about the bombs, the snipers who killed their little boys and refused to allow their parents to retrieve their bodies.  Then Israeli troops shot ambulance drivers which they are notorious for doing, and if anyone questions this, I will list the links that show this exact thing taking place, repeatedly.

This website is a sham, do some real research, and stop slandering Isrealis because you don't agree with them. Their children die too. No life is greater than anothers. However the poor choices made by the parents speaks for itself.

Editor: Wow, I tried to keep a respectful tone but you accuse Salem-News.com of being a sham?  You should be ashamed of yourself, you are a warmonger and I promise, I guarantee, that God is very unhappy with you and each person like you who responds only from fear, not out of  love, and your lackadaisical approach to humanity is highly selfish and unskilled.

Congratulations on your fine publication winning the Josef Goebbels Excellence in Journalism Award.

Editor: Oh right, I forget some of you guys are so full of yourselves that you literally forget how stupid it looks when you let such drivel fly from between your lips.

 similar examples,..

'I really don't hate the Taliban, it is just a ruse to hide my hatred of Arabs'

'Mexican drug cartels murdering children... just something we talk about to hide hatred of Hispanics...'

Elliot December 5, 2011 10:31 am (Pacific time)

It is terribly sad when any child dies - Jewish, Muslim or any other, but your article is full of lies and distortions. For example, R. Schneerson did NOT say anything of the sort you have quoted. No Jewish teachings teach supremacy or superiority. That is a distortion and a lie spread by anti-semites.

Editor: Oh please, that is the most ridiculous claim I have ever heard.

chaim December 4, 2011 2:21 pm (Pacific time)

The solution is not to throw rockets on Israel, then you won't have to cry later, because this is the end of a terrorist and his family.

Editor: The unguided rockets fired by random Palestinians are an act in futility, but you should be more worried BY FAR about the actions of Israel if you hope to see any of this progress toward peace.  It isn't nice BTW to call the Fogel family terrorists just because they lived on stolen land and were part of a community of settlers.

Sorry, if people come into my house and wreak havoc, better believe I'm closing my doors. I don't care who thinks they're entitled to what's in my house. Don't know how to act? Entre' denied.

Too bad all the suicide bombers, who aim for nightclubs, pizzerias, and public transit-not real combatants- ruin the system for the kids who really need thru. But hey, at least their cause is furthered by inadvertently volunteering these poor kids to give their life to prove a point, too.

Editor: Same for the Israeli kids who die also right?  BTW, when was the last suicide bomb set off by a Palestinian?  Do you know Hamas halted suicide bombings years ago?  Some day when God has you under a microscope, measuring your wretched life, this comment too is something you will have to do some real explaining over.  Sell that one to God, don't worry about us.

First, this story is so biased that it has no credibility. Second, Itamar is part of Israel and NOT as described in the article. The whole area as falsely pictured in the "stage" photos is pure propaganda. There should ONLY be white as it is ALL Israel, including Samaria and Judea. The ONLY "palestinian" country and land is called JORDAN. There are NO palestinian people or culture, but rather just displaced arabs from Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, etc. that these countries displaced to Israeli land.

Editor: If  only you were honest and true, wouldn't that be nice?  Don't we wish all of these kids were still alive?  And by the way, it's all Palestine.
