Corruption and Gambling in the Family of Masoud BarzaniSalem-News.com Foreign Affairs
Insiders believe the problem continues partly because Masoud Barzani has great ability to cover up scandals involving his sons.
(SALEM, Ore.) - Mansour Barzani, son of Masoud Barzani the Iraqi Kurdish leader, traveled to Dubai port in May 2014 and in one of his night’s stay in Dubai, lost $ 3.2 million in a gambling game.
Friends of Mansour from the beginning had advised him to stop playing because he had chance to win but he continued to play until the early morning and eventually had lost 3 million and 200 thousand dollars.
At that time, Masoud Barzani stopped his talks in Erbil and came to visit the UAE authorities without a pre-planned schedule. Insiders speculate that he covered up the scandal involving his son.
Barzani's other son, Masrour Barzani, who heads the Kurdistan Security Council, has surpassed his brother in squandering public money, whether in Switzerland or USA. He reportedly bought a villa worth $10 million in America.
