Poisonous Oil Disaster Workplace and Poisonous Homes

(MOLALLA, Ore.) - I am never surprised anymore. First the workers are seriously exposed to hundreds of extremely toxic crude oil chemicals such as Benzene which causes Leukemia as well as frequently lethal damage to heart, lungs, liver and kidneys et cetera. Then comes Toluene, slightly different but causes the same. Then comes Xylene, about the same.

You can read about the toxicities of these and more by punching up “glue sniffing” and or gasoline fume toxicity. You’ll never even think about breathing in a gas station again.

We already have reports of workmen passing out and taken to Emergency Room’s and/or being hospitalized. These patients may already be permanently poisoned.

As a physician/toxicologist, I would recommend that they never again be exposed. The damage is cumulative and progressive. They are courting certain but horrible long-term suffering and eventual death.

As toxic as the above are, I’m not even sure they are the worst. The liver especially, and the kidney try to detoxify them and in the process, destroy themselves. A good technical book review is 315 pages. A recent article in salem-news.com also points out the toxicity of these compounds. I take a more specific stand as a toxicologist who has had some of these victims as patients.

The previous article points out that ALL of the Valdez Oil Spill workers are now dead. This may not be true but I’ll bet many of the survivors are really sick puppies.

As if being poisoned by crude oil is not enough, how they are being issued poisoned trailers to live in. These trailers are heavily contaminated with EMBALMBING FLUID. You read correctly. It is more than probable that they were made with cheap BAD BATCHES of wall board, et cetera made with phenol-formaldehyde (embalming fluid). The trailers are permanently poisoned and the embalming fluid will never “out gas” which is what the SHYSTER salesmen will tell anyone. They will NEVER be safe to live in or even stay for a few hours even if the windows and doors are open. I’m not certain that anything less than tanked air supplied gas masks will protect the workers or even anybody living down wind from the fumes blowing into the states effected.

The statement that methane gas, from the oil, is harmful or hazardous is not really valid. It is easily combustible and explosive but it is fairly light and goes up. There are always sparks from oil field equipment, and it must be rare for them to start methane explosions.

As it is the whole coastal area is the equivalent of a massive superfund toxic waste dump and nobody who isn’t necessary should get OUT.

DON’T TRUST BRITISH PETROLEUM!!
