Do You Know Where your Country is?

Jefferson said: “Information is the currency of Democracy”.

(JAMESTOWN, R.I.) - Now that the July 4th hoopla has quieted, two questions should be asked of the US public.

First: Who was the winner of the most recent America’s Got Talent show?

Second: How many countries is the US currently bombing?

Most Americans can readily answer the first question, but I suspect few can answer the second. Why?

The Roman government distracted its citizens with “bread and circuses”; we have our own version of “bread and circuses”.

Jefferson said: “Information is the currency of Democracy”.

If he was correct, we are bankrupt.

I dont call it America, I call it the United States of America, and the Republic for which it stands. But the leaders have taken us away, thru greed, bankers, israel, corporations etc.. I have just two quick things... I believe I have found the cure for addictions..I mean, I did not make the cure, I am not that dedicated, but I now have 3 people, that I know personally, that were cured. One is a very close loved one. Its called "Ibogaine" it costs $25..no deaths, and 1 out of 500 have minor side effects. But it is illegal in the U.S. You have to go to Mexico. Its a bunch of crud, and you can even go on youtube, type in "ibogaine" and see countless testimonials.. Then ask yourself, why is this illegal in the U.S.? When the drug methadone, patented by the rockefellers is the state's choice? Even tho Methadone is worse than heroin???
The other thing I had to say, is please listen to this song...thanks. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOqaahVdk2U
Then ask yourself, why justin bevert, or whatever his name is, is popular, while this angel is not. thanks..I really think this song will bless your heart.

Colli your statement "We live in the greatest country in the world but it is no thanks to our politicians, our political system, or the mass media" is absolutely correct. Not only do the majority of Americans agree with you, but also the millions who have come here legally and illegally, which BTW includes thousands of Canadians, including Captain Kirk, who no doubt sees our country as distinct from the rest of the planet. If we are a global community, then why do so many people want to come here? It seems jealousy motivates many to make ad hominem statements about America, the greatest country that has ever existed.

DJ: Just because there are many worse countries in the world from where people want to escape to the US for respite, does not make the US the "greatest country in the world". It just makes the US. better than those countries. That's logical  Millions of people want to go to other countries, like Canada, the U.K, Australia, New Zealand, and most European countries to mention just a few. Why are they not, by your definition, the "greatest countries in the world".

Captain Kirk, btw, was a fictional character existing only in fantasyland, which is where your chauvinism comes from. Sorry to burst your bubble.

Colli: you write “ We live in the greatest country in the world”. I have to take accountable  exception to that kind of statement. I suggest that virtually of America’s global problems stem from such inflexible chauvinism.

In February, 2009 astronaut Sandra Magus was living at the ISS and, in an interview, she was asked what the earth looks like from there. She said: “Up here I've seen the world from a different viewpoint. I see it as a whole system, I don't see it as a group of individual people or individual countries. We are one huge group of people and we're all in it together.”

If America, overall, could get closer to her  viewpoint, I could see hope for mankind’s future. As it stands now, America is a rogue nation. This is why America is--no surprise--Israel's best friend in the world.

BTW: She is scheduled to fly on the last shuttle, scheduled to launch tomorrow, July 8.

Joe: This was a short but great article and ever so "right on the mark". The parallel you draw in this article should hit home to everyone. My fear is that it will not. Our politicians, bankers, and corporations are very busy laying down a smokescreen and controlling the press. By the time they are done, there is very little room left for the truth and even less interest in hearing it. A combination of whitewash and brianwash has left us with a citizenry that is numb, blind, and deaf. I use to critize Dan for some of his articles but every day I learn just how close to hitting the mark he is. We live in the greatest country in the world but it is no thanks to our politicians, our political system, or the mass media. Political correctness has outlawed the truth and greed has replaced right and truth. I fear that we are all in attendance for the "Wake in Progress" for the U.S.A. and our citizenry is taking part in digging the grave.
