3 pools day use area
Emergency responders and the Marion County Sheriff's office is on the scene of a possible fatal drowning near the three pools day use area on the North Fork of the Santiam River which is located 17 miles up from Ore. Highway 22.

(LYONS, Ore. ) - As Salem-News.com was first to report just after 3:00 p.m., emergency responders and the Marion County Sheriff's office is still investigating a fatal drowning near the three pools day use area on the North Fork of the Santiam River which is located 17 miles up from Ore. Highway 22, and 45 miles east of Salem.

So far, there is little information to report, other than a young teenage boy has tragically died.

The three pools area is a very popular summer destination attracting well over 15,000 visitors each year, primarily for swimming.

But it also has very dangerous falls and a bridge that people like to dive off of, which has led to many tragic deaths over the years.

The Sheriff's office is in the process of notifying the next of kin, and no more information is expected to be released until Tuesday.

Salem-News.com will have more on this story as soon as it becomes available.
